A new version of KD Neon has been released that was created by a former Kubuntu developer and that runs under the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS operating system. The Linux distro that we are dealing with on this occasion is KDE Neon User Edition 5.6, which was just released a few hours ago with some new features that we will comment on in the following paragraphs.

KDE Neon User Edition 5.6 uses the KDE Plasma 5.6.4 environment

First of all, the KDE Neon User Edition 5.6 works with the KDE Plasma 5.6 desktop environment, which is the most recent iteration that was released in March of this year, and it comes with the novelties of Frameworks 5.22, KDE Apps 16.04. 1 and the updated Qt 5.6 libraries.

We recommend the guide on how to install Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on your PC step by step.

This distro also continues to add applications compatible with KDE's Visual Design and Breeze artwork such as: Kate, Firefox, Konsole, KDE Connect, VLC, Spectacle, Dolphin and Print Manager, you could also add Discover Software Kwrite, the famous visualizer of Gwenview images and other utilities like KsysGuard or Klipper. The idea is that most KDE applications will be available in the future.

KDE Neon User Edition 5.6 based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

KDE Neon User Edition 5.6 arrives approximately 4 months after the special version for developers (Developer Edition) and during the installation of it you can choose a set of default applications that ensure that each user has the applications that they are really going to use and that do not fatten the installation with useless functions (learn Microsoft).

As usual, a 32 and 64 bit version will be available, the ISO image is taking up about 968MB of space.
