Keep Out X9CH is a gaming mouse with an Avago 9800 laser sensor, a model that is one step below the optical sensors but is still valid for playing and working. Added to this sensor is a very light design, an attractive lighting system configurable by software and the possibility of programming macros.

We thank Keep Out for the trust placed in ceding the product to us for analysis.

Keep Out X9CH technical features

Unboxing and design

The Keep Out X9CH mouse surprises us from the first moment, since it leaves aside the cardboard to bet on a brass box, this box has a high quality print and shows us the most important characteristics and specifications of the mouse. We open the box and we find the mouse very well protected by a large piece of foam, next to it, we see the documentation.

Keep Out X9CH is a mouse that is made of a plastic with a rubbery touch, which allows you to get a better grip on the hand and prevent it from slipping, in exchange, the fingerprints will be marked much more with use. This mouse reaches dimensions of 125 mm x 65 mm x 40 mm and a weight of 132 grams with the included cable. It is a light weight, which will make it very agile when it comes to sliding. The cable is twisted, has a length of 1.8 meters and ends in a gold-plated USB connector.

At the top the two main buttons have been included, next to the wheel and an additional button to change the DPI of the sensor. The wheel has a very smooth glide and very little marking, which makes it ideal for long rides, but less good for short rides. The main buttons are based on good quality OMROM mechanisms.

On the left side we see two additional buttons, these are plastic and have slack, something that we did not like since it shows a quality that is not at the height of the rest of the mouse. On the back we see the brand logo along with some indicators of the selected DPI mode, both are part of the lighting system.

Already at the bottom is its Avago 9800 laser sensor, it offers a sensitivity of 8, 200 DPI and an acceleration of 30G, it is one of the best laser sensors, but it is clearly below the optical ones, it really costs us to understand the decision to Place a laser sensor in 2018 when it has been shown to be less than enough. In this lower area we also see Teflon surfers and a contour that is part of the lighting system.

Keep Out Software

Keep Out puts at our disposal a software to manage the Keep Out X9CH, we can download it from the official website of the manufacturer and its installation is really simple. Once installed we find a complete application, although it is not in Spanish.

The application allows us to assign the functions of the six programmable mouse buttons, we can assign typical functions of the mouse, keyboard, multimedia, macros, and functions of the operating system. We can also manage the sensitivity values of its four DPI modes, as well as the speed of the double click. Something that can be confusing is that we have another section dedicated only to the sensor settings, with more advanced options such as independent values for the X and Y axes, the adjustment of polling rate, wheel speed and pointer speed..

Another section allows us to manage the lighting, we can choose a fixed color or make it change, we can also adjust its speed and intensity. Finally, the support tab allows us to check for updates and download the mouse manual. This application also allows us to manage up to five profiles.

Final words and conclusion about Keep Out X9CH

The Keep Out X9CH mouse remains in a fairly compromised position on the market, its overall design looks quite good and has details such as the rubbery touch that many users will like by offering a better grip. However, having included a laser sensor is a drag that makes it difficult to recommend it above models with an optical sensor and a very similar price.

Its management software is quite nice, but it does not really stand out for offering anything different, its use is quite simple, although it is somewhat confusing when the sensor settings are divided into several sections. Not being in Spanish is something that doesn't help either. Keep Out X9CH is for sale for an approximate price of 35 euros.
