KFA2 does not stop surprising us, if a few days ago we tried the GTX 1070 Mini OC, now is the time to introduce you to the KFA2 GTX 1050 Ti OC LP with a low-profile format, 4 GB of GDDR5 memory and without using external power.

We thank KFA2 for trusting the product for their analysis. Here we go!

KFA2 GTX 1050 Ti OC LP technical features

Design and unboxing

KFA2 presents us in a cardboard box for the KFA2 GTX 1070 Mini. On its cover, the exact model is screen-printed, a masked man who is a little scary… and its compatibility with DirectX 12 technology and GameWorks.

While in the rear area all the most important technical specifications and the main novelties of this small graphics card.

Once we open the graphics card we find a classic bundle:

  • KFA2 GTX 1050 Ti OC LP Brochures Quick Guide

The KFA2 GTX 1050 Ti OC LP graphics card uses the Pascal GP107 chip which It is manufactured in 16 nm FinFET and one of the most efficient cards having a TDP of just 75W. These transistors are distributed within the chip in a total of 6 Streaming Multiprocessors units, these in turn contain the large number of 768 CUDA cores with Pascal architecture. We also found no less than 48 texturizing units (TMUs) and 32 crawling units (ROPs).

The Streaming Multiprocessors run A few frequencies in its GPU of 1, 303 MHz in base mode that goes up to 1, 417 MHz under Turbo B oost 3.0 for a really good performance. Custom models come more nut hikes, so their performance is far superior to this reference model. It is also accompanied by 4 GB of GDDR5 memory at a maximum frequency in its overclocked mode of 7, 000 MHz and with a 128-bit interface .

The dimensions of the KFA2 GTX 1050 Ti OC LP are low-profile with 182 x 121 x 39 cm and a Dual Slot size that we can install in any cabinet on the market. And being so small we can even incorporate it in an ITX box. If we place the LP adapter it will have measures of 166 x 69 x 34 mm.

The chosen mini heatsink has two powerful small 40mm fans that are always on. In our tests we have found that they are quite quiet, but if you play you can hear something more than the 80 ~ 90 mm classics.

As many of you know these versions of Nvidia Pascal does not allow two units to connect to each other, with the SLI HB cable. It is a fact to keep in mind.

In its rear connections it has:

  • 1 DVI connection 1 Displayport connection 1 HDMI connection

And now a view of how it looks with the low profile cap (Low Profile):

PCB and internal components

To remove the heatsink we must remove a total of four screws located on the chip. As we can see the heatsink has thermaldpads in the memories and a separate heatsink in the power phases. The base is copper and cools the cool GTX 1050 Ti.

The KFA2 GTX 1050 Ti OC LP features a custom PCB with 2 + 1 power phases: one for the memories and four for the core. As usual, it incorporates first-class components. The PCB looks very well designed, one of the best in this format, and excellent solders. Really, few graphics with this size are so well built.

For benchmarks we will use the following titles:

  • 3DMark Fire Strike normal.3DMark Fire Strike version 4K.Heaven 4.0.Doom 4.Overwatch.Tomb Raider.Battlefield 4.

All tests have been passed with the filters to the maximum unless we indicate otherwise. In order to have adequate performance, we have carried out three types of tests: the first is the most common at Full HD 1920 x 1080, the second resolution is making the leap to 2K or 1440P (2560 x 1440P) gamers and the most enthusiastic with 4K (3840 x 2160). The operating system we have used has been Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and the latest drivers available from the Nvidia website.

What are we looking for in the tests?

First, the best possible image quality. The most important value for us is the average FPS (Frames per second), the higher the number of FPS the more fluid the game will go. To differentiate the quality a bit, we leave you a table to assess the quality in FPS, but we will also have the minimum Fps in the tests that were thus possible:

FRAMES BY SECONDS

Frames for Seconds. (FPS)

Gameplay

Less than 30 FPS Limited
30 - 40 FPS Playable
40 - 60 FPS Good
Greater than 60 FPS Fairly Good or Excellent

Synthetic benchmarks

As always we have passed the three most important tests in synthetic benchmarks: normal 3DMARK, its 4K version and the Heaven version.

Game Testing

We have decided to make the leap to checking various games manually. The reason? Very simple, we want to give a much more realistic vision and cover tests with current games. Since we make an effort, it is consistent with the level of the website and that of our readers.

Overclock and first impressions

Note: Remember that overclocking or manipulation carries a risk, we and any manufacturer are not responsible for improper use, use the head and always do so at your own risk, although it is a small graphics card that has allowed us to tighten its frequencies +100 MHz a little. Although the improvement has been minimal, but at least we know how far a card of these dimensions can reach (about 2 GHz).

In 3DMARK FireStrike we have gone from obtaining 7452 in Graphics Score to 7596 points in graphics score. It is honestly not a pass, but at least we can speed up the graphics card a little more. Also, keep in mind that it does not have external power.

Temperature and consumption

The temperatures of the KFA2 GTX 1050 Ti have been really good, with considerably less noise and temperatures than the reference model. At rest we have obtained 28ºC (always the fan running) and at maximum performance it reaches 55ºC in no case. As the overclock has been so mild, temperatures barely rise to 59ºC . We are not as satisfied with the noise at idle as the fan sometimes speeds up unnecessarily.

Important: The consumption is of the complete equipment.

Another of the great advantages of this range is the reduced consumption that we have in the equipment. Until very recently it was unthinkable to have a high-end graphic and get 52 W at rest and 136 W at maximum power.

Final words and conclusion about KFA2 GTX 1050 Ti OC LP

The KFA2 GTX 1050 Ti OC LP is one of the most exciting graphics KFA2 has released on this new generation Pascal. Its low profile design (LOW Profile), without the need for external power and an excellent heatsink for such a cool chip. It makes it the ideal graphics card for HTPC or equipment designed for e-Sports.

In our performance tests we have seen that it perfectly moves the 1920 x 1080p resolution with great ease and 1440p with more than decent FPS, without being its strong point. Regarding consumption, we have 52W at rest and 136W at maximum power.

We recommend reading our guide to the best graphics cards on the market.

The only downside we can find is that the 40mm fans when we are playing show their high revolutions. However, at rest they are hardly heard and it is surprising that it goes so well.

It is currently in Spain in two versions: 2GB and 4GB. Their prices range from 150 to 175 euros. But beware, if you have a normal tower we recommend that you purchase the normal version with OC that incorporates a single fan in the central position.

ADVANTAGE

DISADVANTAGES

+ SPECIAL DESIGN FOR HTPC.

- SAME AS THE 40 MM FANS ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR USERS WHO ARE LOOKING FOR ABSOLUTE SILENCE.
+ QUALITY HEATSINK.

+ YOU CAN MOUNT IT ON AN ULTRA-COMPACT PC WITH LOW CONSUMPTION AND PLAY FULL HD.

+ GOOD TEMPERATURES.
+ NO NEED FOR FOOD.
