KFA2, leader in the manufacture of premium graphics cards. This time it has sent us its flagship KFA2 GTX980 TI HOF of 6GB and a spectacular white color design. One of the best graphics cards due to its design, components and loudness. Don't miss our review!
We thank KFA2 for trusting the product for their analysis:
Technical characteristics KFA2 GTX980 TI HOF
KFA2 GTX980 TI HOF
The box in which the KFA2 GTX980 TI HOF arrives has a great aesthetic, dominated by the characteristic black and green color of Nvidia. On the front we find the model and logos of the HOF and Nvidia series. On the reverse side, KFA2 highlights the quality of its components and in a brief description of its most important characteristics.
When opening the box we find that it is very well protected in an anti-static bag. The included accessories are:
- KFA2 GTX 980 Ti HOF 6GB graphics card . Quick guide CD with drivers D-SUB to DVI adapter 2 thieves molex to PCI Express 8-pin CD with drivers
The KFA2 GTX980 Ti HOF has a size of 315 x 144.1 x 51 mm and a weight that falls within normal limits. The design is really impressive with a monstrous three fan heatsink and predominantly white and silver with a mirror finish.
Its back presents some novelties, the KFA2 GTX980 Ti HOF is somewhat heavy, so a backplate is necessary to hold it and on the way it gives it a totally impressive aesthetic. The HOF Series logo is also engraved, which illuminates when it comes into operation.
The cooling system incorporates two 80mm fans and a third 90mm fan. As we expected from a graphics card in this category, it incorporates 0dB technology. That is, the fans will activate when it has a minimum load (50-60ºC), while at rest it will be kept passively.
To mount the card in our equipment we will need to connect two 8- pin power connectors that are capable of supplying 250W. For its installation we will need a 600W power supply and it allows us to install up to 3 cards in SLI. Its PCI Express connector is x16 and 3.0.
To finish we detail the rear connections:
- 1 x Dual-link DVI. 3 x Displayport 1.21 x HDMI. 1 x button that allows switching to a second BIOS.
Cooling and custom PCB
To see the interior of the KFA 2 GTX 980 Ti HOF we must remove 6 screws at the rear. As we can see the heatsink is the only block that is attached to the PCB of the graphics card.
Incorporates the GM200-310 28nm TSMC graphics chip with 2816 CUDA CORES. Has Hynix memories at a speed of 7010 MHz GDDR5 that make a total of 6GB GDDR5. The core of the processor runs in base frequency at 1190 MHz and when it goes up with turbo boost it reaches up to 1291 MHz, a bus at 385-Bits and compatible with DirectX 12.
Both the memories and the power supply phases have thermal pads for efficient cooling. It has a design of 8 + 2 phases of top quality power supply, which offer stability and the possibility of maximizing our graphics card.

For benchmarks we will use the following titles:

All tests will be passed in their maximum configuration unless it is stated differently in the graph. And this time we will do it in two resolutions, the most popular today: 1080P (1920 × 1080) and a slightly higher one: 2K or 1440P (2560x1440P). The operating system used will be the new Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and the latest drivers available from the Nvidia website.
What are we looking for in the tests?
First, the best possible image quality. The most important value for us is the average FPS (Frames per second), the higher the number of FPS, the more fluid the game will be. To differentiate the quality a bit, we leave you a table to assess the quality in FPS, but we will also have the minimum Fps in the tests that were thus possible:
FRAMES BY SECONDS |
|
Frames for Seconds. (FPS) |
Gameplay |
Less than 30 FPS | Limited |
30 - 40 FPS | Playable |
40 - 60 FPS | Good |
Greater than 60 FPS | Fairly Good or Excellent |
1080P test results
Overclock and first impressions
Note: Remember that overclocking or manipulation carries a risk, we and any manufacturer are not responsible for improper use, use the head and always do so at your own risk.
We have increased the overclocking capacity by +80 which are 1316 Mhz and memories up to 1790 Mhz. The improvements we found are about 5 fps without touching voltage. Whoever needs to get a little more performance is one of the best graphics for them. We have seen users of other forums reach up to 1550 Mhz by air and reach 1600 by water.
WE RECOMMEND YOU KFA2 GeForce GTX 1080 Ti EXOC White Review in Spanish (Full Review)Temperature and consumption
Although many of you have been following us for years and know how we work, for newcomers the following question will arise: How have we always evaluated the consumption and temperatures of the KFA2 GTX 980 Ti HOF?.
With this table we will have a general reference with other current cards or cards from previous generations. Consumption and temperatures have been verified by reading the maximum peak, passing the Metro Last Light benchmark 3 times, ideal for how demanding it is and Furmark to check an extreme temperature during a 2-hour cycle.
The KFA2 GTX 980 Ti HOF has behaved like a champion with incredibly good idle power consumption and maximum power. In temperatures the performance has also been excellent with 35ºC at rest and 63ºC at maximum power playing. Passing Furmark it has risen to 71ºC.
Final words and conclusion.
It's not the first graphics card we've tested from KFA2, but this GTX 980 Ti HOF is the best of the best we've tested. It has everything a high-end graphics card should have: design, great components, powerful cooling, and a gorgeous white PCB.
In our performance tests it has matched with excellent scores. So far it is the best GTX 980 Ti we have had on our test bench next to the Matrix Platinum.
In short, if you are looking for a graphics card to take out every last Mhz, play in 2K or 4K resolution and want a bold design in white, the 6GB KFA2 GTx 980 Ti HOF is the perfect candidate. Its store price ranges from 750 to 770 euros.
