AMD's CPU market share increased in all segments in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the previous year, as reported by Mercury Research. The latest AMD CPU market share results have been very positive for the desktop and laptop segments compared to the previous quarter as well.

Ryzen processors appear to have been a fruitful investment for AMD, leading not only to strong financial quarters, but also to an ever-increasing CPU market share.
According to the latest figures for the first quarter of 2019, the AMD desktop CPU market share grew by 1.3%, which now stands at 17.1%, and the laptop CPU market share increased by 1.0%, which now stands at 13.1%. Compared to last year, the gain is 4.9% for the desktop side and 5.1% for the notebook market.
These figures are very interesting when we consider that AMD did not launch any new product in the first part of the year, and still managed to increase its market share. First and second generation Ryzen processors received price cuts in this period that helped improve sales, in addition to Intel's stock issues that paved the way for AMD on all fronts.
On the server side, while AMD's market share grew by 1.9% compared to the previous year, this quarter saw a slight drop of 0.3%, largely due to the industry. which awaits the 7nm EPYC Rome series processors, which will be available in the third quarter. AMD has struck major deals for its generation of EPYC Rome processors and the US DOE. which will use the EPYC processors to bring the Frontier supercomputer to life, to be delivered in 2021.
AMD would release Ryzen 3000 processors in June, so we may see the red team's market share grow further, unless Intel has something to say about it.
