The eu would force apple to terminate with the lightning connector
Table of contents:
Apple's Lightning adapter is taking center stage in recent days. Over the weekend news broke that new iPhones may stop bringing it in the box. Now, it is revealed that the European Union is seeking to force the Cupertino company to stop using it. And the reasons for this go back a few years.
The EU would force Apple to end the Lightning connector
Back in 2009, a total of 14 companies, including Apple, Huawei or Samsung, promised to work to promote better integration between chargers of different brands, so that they could be used in other phones from other brands.
Apple vs EU
But, after almost ten years of this, there has not been much progress. Especially in the case of Apple with its Lightning connectors there has not been. Since on Android phones, the most normal thing is that you can use a charger or connector from one brand to another. For this reason, the European Union wants to take action against the American company.
So an investigation is underway to determine if it's really possible to force Apple to kill Lightning connectors. This investigation should start soon, but it is not yet known when we will have its conclusions.
This is the umpteenth battle between Apple and the European Union, and everything indicates that it will not be the last we see in the coming months. It will be interesting to see what happens, and the possible consequences of the American company being forced to stop using this connector.
