The latest Radeon Pro workstation cards are now certified for SOLIDWORKS advanced workflow and concurrent engineering, combining complex CAD models with sophisticated simulation and processing (CAE). Unlike regular gaming graphics cards, Radeon Pro WX graphics cards offer a number of GPU-accelerated features and specific optimizations for the SOLIDWORKS tool, allowing for more realism and performance when editing and creating 3D models
More accurate designs with GPU-accelerated transparency mode
Order Independence Transparency (ILO) has been available since the 2014 edition of SOLIDWORKS. OIT provides a "precise pixel" representation of the model and its surrounding geometry and is designed to be accelerated by the Radeon Pro GPU, allowing for higher performance compared to conventional graphics cards. This novel , transparent 3D point of view was created to help designers gain greater "design insight" and improve decision-making through the various stages of product development.
Later versions of SOLIDWORKS brought further enhancements to OIT with a new preview feature, allowing users to view parts and assemblies in grayscale, directly from the feature tree, before enabling them for editing. This provides great feedback to the user on what parts and assemblies to allow rather than just a bounding box. The grayscale image is accurate and the information is stored on the GPU at all times.
SOLIDWORKS 2017 offers fast design and increased “design intuition” with GPU-accelerated transparency mode (OIT) to manage contacts (geometric relationships between parts) and transparent section views. This improves the process of selecting edges or planes in other components and makes limiting a mount quick and easy. OIT is automatically activated when using the Radeon Pro WX graphics card.
