Gvid sales from nvidia and amd don't go back with hard-to-clean stocks
Table of contents:
It is no secret that the sale of desktop graphics cards falls year after year. While both Nvidia and AMD have decreased GPU shipments to manufacturers and retailers, they have serious difficulties getting rid of all the stock they have in warehouses. This is also not expected to change for the next two first quarters of 2019.
A saturated market and general decline in sales
In Jon Peddie Research's latest review of the desktop GPU market, they show overall negative results for desktop graphics card manufacturers. Nvidia for example decreased the shipments of graphics cards by 7.6%, AMD did the same with 6.8%, along with 0.7% from Intel, although this company of course is not specialized in desktop graphics.
This is because many of the retailers that market their products are having serious difficulties cleaning their current card stock, as evidenced by the reports for the last quarter of 2018.
And is that the sale of graphics cards has fallen by up to 20%, and not even the 8% increase in laptop GPUs have managed to improve the situation. Joh Peddie explains that one of the problems that has generated this situation is the massive shipment of GPUs to retailers without a prior market study. In addition, the fall in the value of the cryptocurrency, suggest that the situation will not improve in the coming quarters of 2019.
To this we must add the general increase in the prices of these new GPUs, some equipment that can hardly be found for less than 350 euros, which is a very considerable price and difficult to afford for most fans of the video game world. And let's not kid ourselves, currently there are not too many titles that need an RTX to reach its full potential, and this is what happens when technology is far ahead of the qualities of current graphics engines.

To this we must add the enormous prices of the new gaming laptops that have appeared these months, very powerful equipment, but within the reach of very few people, with prices that far exceed 2, 000 euros. In light of the events, we expect retailers to come up with succulent deals on these GPUs to shake them off, so it's worth watching to see how the card market evolves.
Where do you think the biggest problem is when selling these units? Do you have a laptop or Nvidia RTX at home? As always, leave us a comment about what you think about this goal in the box.
