According to the information published by the ETNews website, the technology giant Apple has reached an agreement with the subsidiary LG Display to start with the production of OLED panels for the current iPhone XS and XS Max. This same means indicates that such panels will be manufactured on LG's E6 production line located in Paju, and that shipping will begin as soon as next month.

According to ETNews, LG will supply approximately 400, 000 OLED panels to Apple before the end of this year of 2018. The cost of each of those panels is around ninety dollars.

Already last September it was learned that the sixth generation of OLED panels manufactured by LG had passed the quality tests to which the Cupertino company submits them, which would have led to the next step: preparation for mass production.

Months earlier, in April, a report assured that Samsung would probably continue to be the exclusive provider of OLED panels for Apple's latest smartphones because the also South Korean LG had suffered delays due to problems in its production chain. However, it seems that a few months have been enough for LG to solve such problems and consolidate itself as Apple's secondary provider as far as OLED panels are concerned.

The agreement between the two companies would have been reached last July, although it is now when the dimensions of the supply are confirmed.

As they observe from MacRumors, the fact that Samsung and LG compete for the supply of panels for the new iPhone makes it easier for Apple to negotiate lower prices, which in turn would reduce the cost of production per unit of the devices, increasing thus its profit margin, already in itself wide.
