New update for Windows 8.1 released

Microsoft has released the November update for its Windows 8.1 operating system. This is an optional enhancement and fix package for Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

Despite being an optional update, it is important and recommended to install it due to the many improvements it provides. The update fixes the following errors:

  • 3004905 Windows Hyper-V upgrade for Linux virtual machines that have file systems larger than 2TB
  • 3004542 Windows Server 2012-cluster responds to requests slowly
  • 3004540 Memory usage is high when running an application in Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012
  • 2995478 Wmiprvse.exe memory leak when a disk or partition storage information query program in Windows Server 2012
  • 2970215 Microcode update for Intel processors improve Windows Server reliability
  • 2891362 File copy operation fails when files or folders have long paths in Windows Explorer
  • 3002653 Update to support AAC and LATM format audios in Windows 8.1 or Windows 8
  • 2996928 Backup job fails with a timeout error in Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2008 R2
