Logitech G305 is the latest gaming mouse that the brand has put on the market. It is a wireless model, which shares most of the features with the G603 , although it has been designed to be more economical. For this, Bluetooth connectivity has been eliminated, although the Lightspeed receiver that promises a 1000 Hz polling rate and its advanced HERO sensor are maintained.
Ready to know all the benefits of this magnificent mouse? Here we go!
We are very grateful to Logitech for the trust placed in our team by transferring the product to us for analysis.
Logitech G305 technical features
Unboxing and design
The Logitech G305 comes inside a small cardboard box with a design based on the main blue color and very consistent with a current gaming product. The printing of the box is of very high quality, showing a high resolution image of the mouse, as well as its most important characteristics.
Once we open the box we find the mouse perfectly protected by a plastic blister, next to it we find the Lightspeed USB receiver, a USB adapter to place it as close as possible to the mouse, the documentation and an AA battery.
The Logitech G305 is based on a design traced to that of the G Pro and the G203, the brand has become accustomed to using very similar designs in all its mice, which allows it to save on development costs, offering a more competitive product in the relationship between price and benefits.
The mouse is made of very good quality black plastic, reaching measurements of 116.6 mm x 62.15 mm x 38.2 mm and a weight of 99 grams.
The upper part of the mouse consists of a magnetic cover, once we remove it we see the installation area of the attached AA battery, as well as a space to store the USB receiver, something that will come in handy to take with us everywhere.
At the top of the Logitech G305 we find the two main buttons. This time, Logitech has opted for an advanced button tension system with separate buttons, which increases the coherence of response of the left and right mouse buttons, and requires less clicking effort. This will help make it a more pleasant mouse to use during long gaming sessions. These main buttons are capable of holding ten million clicks, which means that high quality switches have been used.
Along with these buttons we find the scroll wheel, formed by a single piece of plastic and with a textured design to achieve a better grip on the user's finger. Beneath the wheel is an additional programmable button, which is configured as standard to change the DPI mode of the mouse. Just below this button, there is a small LED that indicates the operating status of the mouse.
On the left side we find two additional programmable buttons, these two buttons are the only thing that breaks a totally symmetrical design of the mouse. The buttons have a very firm touch and do not dance, demonstrating good manufacturing quality. The area under the buttons is completely smooth and plastic, it would have been interesting to opt for a rubber area to improve the grip on the hand and that it does not slip. The right side is totally free.
We got to the bottom of the Logitech G305, the manufacturer has put four Teflon surfers to help the mouse glide more smoothly on our mat. These surfers have a resistance of 250 km, which means that they will last us a long time. We also see the on and off button.
The most interesting thing about this lower area is the HERO optical sensor, a latest generation model that has been developed by Logitech to offer its users just what they need. This advanced sensor is capable of working with a sensitivity range between 200 and 12, 000 dpi, with a sampling rate of 400 IPS, and a maximum acceleration of 40G.
As expected, it works with a data format of 16 bits per axis, with a maximum polling rate of 1000 Hz and is managed by a 32-bit ARM processor.
This sensor has been designed to offer maximum energy efficiency, therefore it offers two operating modes. Its high performance mode allows reaching 1000 Hz with a battery life of up to 250 hours of play, resistance mode, reduces the polling rate to 125 Hz and in return makes the battery last up to nine months.
G305 without battery
G305 with battery
G403 with integrated battery
This means that we have an all-terrain mouse, capable of performing at the highest level when you are playing, and capable of holding up to nine months without changing batteries, which is great.
Logitech software
If we go to the website of the mouse we can easily download its software. Once installed we will come across a fairly intuitive main screen. In the upper area we have the mouse battery level, the option to activate automatic mouse detection profiles and below the main manual modifications.
In the pointer configuration menu it shows us the possibility of creating different levels to adjust the DPI from 200 to 1200 DPI. In our case we have it in 400, 800, 1600 and 3200 for a 4K monitor. It also allows us to adjust the response speed and power mode.
For performance lovers we have a little keystroke map. This allows us to monitor and review which are the most used switches.
In advanced settings we can activate and deactivate multitudes of application options. From starting the application when starting Windows, graphics, profiles for games, updating the firmware, creating profiles or making use of the developer options Final words and conclusion about Logitech G305
Final words and conclusion about Logitech G305
The Logitech G305 is a top quality wireless gaming mouse. With a sober design, excellent build quality and a state-of-the-art Hero sensor that offers great efficiency (x10) in both performance and autonomy.
After more than a week of testing and throwing lots of games into games like PUBG or Jurassic World Evolve, we couldn't have ended happier. In shooter style games we have had good streaks. And its use while we work? It more than fulfills its function and having a mouse with such a good response time is appreciated.
We recommend reading our guide to the best mice on the market
Perhaps we are missing a different design than the Logitech G PRO or the G203. But it more than fulfills its function: ergonomics and without LED lights that make the battery drain more. As a curious fact, Logitech promises us 250 hours of autonomy with a single AA battery.
Have we had connection failures in the short, medium or long distance? Thanks to USB Lightspeed technology we have not had any problems. We have always been able to use it without any impediment or make use of the USB extension cable that it incorporates. A 10 for the Logitech G305.
Currently we find it available in the main online stores for a price of 61.99 euros. We believe that it is a 100% recommended option, although for many users the price can put you back.
