Gameboy cartridges can be used on your smartphone

Many of our readers will remember the long hours they spent playing with their beloved Gameboy, one of the most popular consoles and with which we spent so much time trying to capture the 151 Pokémon among many others. Although emulation of GameBoy games is extremely easy nowadays, you will soon be able to use their cartridges on your smartphone.

Hyperkin already showed last year that it was working on a new accessory to allow the use of cartridges in our smartphones, finally the small invention has been baptized as Smart Boy and will arrive at the end of the year to give compatibility to our smartphones between 5 and 6 inches with GameBoy and GameBoy Color cartridges in PAL and NTSC versions. More specifically, it will be on December 1 when it officially goes on sale although you can already book it for a price of $ 60.

For now, Smart Boy will be sold as a " Developer Kit " with Open Source firmware so that the community is in charge of improving its features and capabilities. It will not be the same experience that we lived so many years ago with our beloved console but it surely makes us remember the good times we spent with our colleagues after leaving school.
