Anonim

We continue to analyze DeepCool products in this final stretch of the year, and today it is the turn of the MACUBE 310 chassis. This box in ATX format boasts excellent build quality and detail at a really good price.

Details like the magnetic side panels, minimalist design and capacity of up to 7 120mm fans or 360mm cooling systems are a good claim for use in even high-end gaming assemblies. We are going to see everything that this chassis offers us, because it will stay in our facilities as a desktop computer. Let's start!

But first, we must thank DeepCool for trusting us in giving us this chassis to do our analysis.

MACUBE 310 technical characteristics

Unboxing

This MACUBE 310 chassis has come to us in a very simple presentation. For this, a neutral cardboard box has been used with only the box model on a traditional brown background. On one of the sides we do have the respective table with the basic specifications.

We open the box at the top and we also find the same as always, the chassis tucked inside a plastic bag and in turn accommodated in the molds of expanded polystyrene (white cork).

The bundle in this case consists of the following elements:

  • MACUBE 310 Chassis Instruction Manual Grips and Screws Safety Grips for Side Panels

We see as interesting detail the fact of incorporating these grips to provide greater security to the side panels. This is designed to prevent the little ones in the house from accidentally removing these panels.

Exterior design

It is inevitable to see this MACUBE 310 chassis and not compare it with the NZXT chassis, since in many cases they have been a reference in this type of minimalist designs with a clean and closed metal front. In any case we have notable differences as we will see throughout this analysis, some of them very interesting.

Cassis offers measurements of 425 mm depth, 215 mm width including the sides, and 495 mm height, thus complying with the approximate measurements of a standard mid-tower or ATX chassis. When looking at the cooling capacity and cables we will notice those 215 mm width that will give us a little extra capacity. The inner chassis is made of SPCC steel, with metal plates and ABS plastic trim elements.

Now we will focus on each of the faces of the MACUBE 310. Starting as always on the left, we have this entire area occupied by a 4mm thick tempered glass panel without any darkening and leaving all the interior hardware perfectly visible.

The most peculiar thing about the panel is that it does not need any type of screw for its installation and fixing. Since at the top it has a magnetic strip that keeps it perfectly attached to the chassis. We have this band placed on a grip in the upper area that also serves to better manipulate this glass. It is made of plastic, and installed directly on the glass as normal.

It is an excellent design idea that we hope to see in more chassis, since it offers us great comfort to access the interior and also a very good grip for handling.

We now continue with the right part, which in this case is provided with an opaque sheet metal and painted in the main color of the chassis, being black or white according to the specification. We also have the same magnetic band fixing system, although the upper grip has not been placed, as it is not necessary because it is made of sheet metal.

We have not finished, because being a chassis with the front completely closed, we have on both sides the corresponding openings for the passage of air into the chassis. For this, both the front and upper frame have been used, both protected by a medium-grain plastic mesh. It is not fully open in the entire area, and the air flow could be limited if we use all the available fan capacity. The positive is that these openings are both on the right and on the left.

And if we want an extra security, two rear grips are included as we have seen in Unboxing. They are mainly designed so that nobody can accidentally remove these sides, and will be installed by means of a screw in the rear frame.

The front area of the MACUBE 310 does not have many secrets, it is simply an opaque metal panel with the brand's logo, this being completely smooth and clean, giving that minimalist and sober design that we talked about at the beginning.

In the same way, the upper part is completely covered to improve this aesthetics of the set. In this way, a unibody chassis is simulated, although the front and top have independent plates and can be easily removed for having a modular design.

We only see the I / O port panel in this upper part, which is made up of the following elements:

  • 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-AJack 3.5mm microJack input 3.5mm audio output Power button Reset button Activity LED

A fairly simple panel in terms of connectivity in terms of capacity. Remember that all the air inlets are located on the sides of the chassis, on the right and left.

The rear area of the MACUBE 310 has a capacity of 7 expansion slots for ATX boards and two extra slots for vertical GPU mounts. Once again, the width of the chassis is a bit limited for example to mount a graphics card that occupies 3 expansion slots, and we should opt for a traditional mount if we are dealing with this case.

In this back is where we have pre-installed the only included fan, which is a basic 120mm fan. The hole for the PSU is located at the bottom and to install it we will have to put it on the right side.

And finally we come to the lower area, which is characterized by being quite simple and continuous compared to other mid-range chassis. We have legs approximately 25 mm high with rubber bands smaller than we would like for your support.

Likewise, an opening has been installed in the area of the PSU protected with a metallic medium grain filter with basic installation. In the front area you can see the 4 screws that hold the bay cabinet for HDD that is located inside. We will have the possibility to move it to the right or left because of its large PSU, although it admits little movement.

Interior and assembly

We go on to look in more detail at the interior area of the MACUBE 310, and we are no longer so surprised to see holes for cables with rubber protection in this price range. In this case, the three located on the vertical sheet have been covered, while the two located on the PSU cover are completely open. The top two are not missing to pass the power cables of the board.

As we have seen with the measurements, we have a fairly large interior space, leaving a good gap in the front area even with the plate installed. The chassis supports ATX, Micro ATX and Mini ITX formats. There would be room for E-ATX as well, although the cable holes would be plugged due to width.

DeepCool has had the detail of placing a manual support for a graphics card. With it we can hold the front of especially large GPUs, since the chassis supports sizes up to 330 mm long in case of having liquid cooling installed. The maximum height for CPU heatsinks will be 165 mm, so we can install even the Assassin III and other double blocks such as the D15 from Noctua quite tightly.

Supports power supply in standard ATX format up to 160mm with HDD cabinet installed. It is also interesting the detail of having placed rubber caps to support the power supply, since it is always one of the elements that generates the most vibrations and that is later distributed throughout the chassis.

Storage and cabling capacity

We go to the back of the MACUBE 310, where we can better see its storage capacity and the space for wiring that is 25 mm thick. An interesting detail is that two velcro strips are already included in the central part to fix the PCI and ATX cables for GPU and board power.

And when it comes to storage, we clearly see a cabinet with capacity for two 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch HDD / SSD hard drives. In this case it does not have removable trays quickly, but they are fixed to the frame with a screw. We also don't see soundproofing rubber pads.

In addition to this cabinet, at the rear, and installed vertically, we have two metal brackets for 2.5-inch SSD / HDD drives. Technically there is more room available in the front and also on the PSU cover, although the manufacturer has chosen not to use this available gap.

Ventilation capacity

Now we continue with the capacity of fans and liquid cooling of the MACUBE 310, which is not bad for the price at which we move.

When it comes to fan capacity we have:

  • Front: 3x 120mm / 2x 140mm Top: 2x 120mm / 2x 140mm Rear: 2x 120mm / 2x 140mm

With these three spaces we have available up to 7 holes for 120 mm fans or, where appropriate, 4 140 mm fans, keeping the 120 mm one behind. We would have liked a second fan pre-installed in the front or upper area, especially for the user who intends to make a mounting that is not based on liquid cooling. In this way we would have ensured the air flow with inlet from the front and outlet from behind and above.

All entrances are located in the lateral areas, perfectly integrated with the aesthetics of the chassis and all of them covered with grilles. Perhaps we have a somewhat limited capacity in case of completing those 7 available spaces, but with a double front and rear fans we will have a good enough flow.

We always recommend placing fans on the front in suction mode, leaving the top and rear in extraction mode to facilitate air flow.

The cooling capacity will then be:

  • Front: 120/140/240/280/360 mm Rear: 120 mm

In this case we will not be able to install a double top-front radiator system, since in this upper area the base plate will be quite adjusted to the roof of the box. This is not a drawback in this box either, since a priori it is not designed for custom refrigeration installations, so a double radiator makes little sense in it.

What is very good about it is that we have enough space in the front for triple fan radiators, and in turn it will not hinder neither a hard disk cabinet nor a PSU, and everything can be perfectly integrated due to the good depth of the chassis. In fact, the gap is sufficient for installations with a thickness of more than 60 mm (radiator + fans).

The installation will always be done on the inside, and since the front is perfectly removable, we will have no problem doing the procedure. We recommend placing the radiator fans in this front in extraction mode, although the suction mode will work well if we help them with a fan at the top and the one already available in the rear area.

We do not forget the small PWM controller that is installed in the rear area of the MANCUBE 310 chassis. Its function is basically to expand the capacity of fans or an option not to install them directly on the motherboard.

It offers 4 outputs with 4-pin headers for fans that support PWM control (pulse width modulation) for speed control. This controller does not offer software management, although it does have a direct connector to a board header that performs the function of power and control. Obviously with the board software, whatever it is, we will see these 4 headers as only one, being able to manage all the fans at the same time as if it were one.

Component Installation

We have already seen in detail all the theoretical capacity of the MACUBE 310, now we are going to carry out the final assembly, which in this case will remain in this chassis as it is a team that we will use at work. The components that we will use will be:

  • AORUS X570 Master motherboard + 2 NVMeCPU AMD Ryzen 3800X + 16GB DDR4 SSD Asus Ryujin 360mm Liquid Cooling Nvidia RTX 2070 super graphics card Corsair AX860iSSD 860 EVO 1TB power supply

As we see it is a team oriented to Workstation, multitasking and rendering of great power and that will go perfectly in this economic chassis. The power supply is 160 mm and we have had no problem installing it in its receptacle, if the need to move the hard drive cabinet. It is certainly a high-end mount with the latest from AMD.

The support to hold the graphics card in this case will come in handy, since these reference Nvidia having so much metal weigh quite a bit and are relatively long, so of course we have used it. In fact we observe that its extension is sufficient not only for very large cards, but for almost anyone with a double fan. We still have plenty of room for the radiator and fans.

In fact, we have used the second mentioned way, that is, placing the fans in suction mode on the radiator and taking advantage of the rear and top to extract the hot air. They are not RGB fans so it does not matter that they are almost hidden in this mode, and in any case we see that there is still a lot of space on the side.

The management of the wiring is quite good, we have a trunk fastening by means of two velcro strips that we have taken advantage of and enough space throughout the back to distribute cables and fix them with clips.

The wiring that we have available in the chassis will be the following:

  • USB 3.1 Type-A connector (black) Front audio connector (black) Separate connectors for F_panel 4-pin header of fan hub 3-pin header / Molex for rear fan

We are not obliged to use the fan controller, since if our board has enough headers and is compatible with a Fan Xpert or similar management program, we can connect them directly to it.

Final score

Here we have the final result of the assembly on this MACUBE 310 and perfectly working. The entire procedure was carried out without any complications, the excellent hardware capacity being as expected by its measurements.

Too bad we do not have a version with lighting pre-installed, as many users increasingly opt for inexpensive chassis with integrated RGB. And in this chassis closed by the front, a strip would fit very well.

Final words and conclusion about MACUBE 310

We come to the end of another new analysis of an ATX chassis that has left us with excellent feelings. So much so that we have seen it as an excellent option for a new PR team.

It is a box quite contained in price and with a good design, minimalist, sober, with good quality steel and rigidity prepared for assemblies with high-end hardware whenever we use ATX plates. There really would be room for E-ATX, but it's not designed for them because the cable holes would be plugged.

We really liked the magnetic fixing system for the side panels, both tempered glass and sheet metal. Without screws, very accessible and also with a fairly secure grip that we can expand with the two included angles to prevent any clueless from pulling the glass and throwing it on the ground.

We recommend reading the best chassis on the market

The cooling capacity is quite good, with up to 7 120mm fans, of which we have one back pre-installed. We would have liked to have a second pre-installed on the front for users who do not want to put liquid cooling, which supports radiators up to 360 mm. On both sides we have enough mesh holes to provide a good air flow, although not outstanding.

The capacity of hard drives is quite standard, although it offers us the possibility of removing the metal cabinet if we do not have 3.5 ”drives. Likewise, it supports 160mm PSU without major problems, with gorma legs to prevent vibrations. Details such as the rubberized cable holes and the graphics card holder make this a fairly well designed and detailed chassis.

Currently we can find this MACUBE 310 for a price of 76 euros in our country, and it could really go through a higher priced product, due to its excellent level. Therefore we have no choice but to recommend it for purchase . Please note that we do not have pre-installed lighting.
