Microsoft announces new virtual reality controllers that will have support for Acer and HP helmets

The new virtual reality controllers use Microsoft's “inside-out” tracking system, which makes use of the cameras incorporated in the device and allows tracking of the remote control while it is in the helmet's field of vision. These controls will also bring a few grip and trigger buttons, as well as a trackpad and joystick for additional control.

Right now, Microsoft has started selling these virtual reality headsets with Windows 10 to developers in the United States, with development kits priced at $ 299. There are currently only two development kits available, one from Acer (priced at $ 299), and the other from HP ($ 329.99). In both cases, 1440 x 1440 pixel displays with a 90Hz refresh rate and a PS VR-like strap design are used.

Both Halo VR models will have USB and HDMI 2.0 cables to connect to the PC, although an HDMI 2.0 connection would be required to take advantage of the 90Hz refresh rate.

At the moment it is not known how these new VR headsets deal with the load during gaming, since their tracking system does not seem to be as accurate as in the case of other virtual reality headsets available on the market.
