Microsoft improves the integration of Skype with OneDrive

Microsoft is constantly working to add many improvements to the new version of Skype, after the reaction it received when it announced its intention to completely replace the classic applications. In addition to regaining many of the capabilities, the team has also been working on a number of new features such as further integration with OneDrive.

Last August, US-based users received the ability to share their favorite Spotify songs via Skype, and now Microsoft is also allowing integration with OneDrive. The new Skype feature was announced through the community forums, and allows you to share files from your OneDrive account without having to download the entire file and then transfer it to your contacts. In fact, it works very similarly to sharing any file from OneDrive, except you can do it from the Skype app.

Simply use the '+' icon in any conversation, and look for the OneDrive option to send any file from your personal cloud storage. The feature is being implemented in Skype Insiders, it appears to be available in the Android app, but not in the Store app for Windows 10. This new feature highlights Microsoft's efforts to make all of its services work together to some degree. Recently, the company also added Microsoft To-Do to the messaging app, making it easy to share tasks with others.

It remains to be seen if these improvements help Skype to regain some of the popularity it once had, as this application was everything in terms of videoconferencing, and today it passes with more pain than glory. What do you expect from future versions of Skype?
