We are still analyzing Intel motherboards for the LGA 1151 socket. This time we bring you the review of the MSI B360M Mortar Titanium with a 100% arctic design, a microATX format, great cooling in the power phases.
Ready to get a closer look at this motherboard? Well here we go!
We thank the trust in MSI for sending the product for analysis:
MSI B360M Mortar Titanium technical characteristics
Unboxing and design
The MSI B360M Mortar Titanium It is presented in a compact box where white and blue predominate. Although personally I do not like much that incorporating the image of a pump… we also see the certifications compatible with 8th Generation Intel Coffe Lake and Intel Optane technology.
While at the rear we have all the most important technical characteristics detailed. As expected everything very well illustrated and explaining in English all its benefits in detail.
Inside we find the following bundle:
- MSI B360M Mortar Titanium Motherboard Back Plate Instruction Manual & Quick Guide CD Disc with Drivers SAT Cable Set Screws for M.2 NVMe Drives
The MSI B360M Mortar Titanium is a micro-ATX format motherboard, whose dimensions are 24.4 cm x 24.4 cm. As we have already commented in the article introduction, thanks to its LGA 1151 socket, it is compatible with the eighth generation Intel processors: Pentium, i3, i5 and i7.
The silver white PCB is gorgeous and pairs great with its silver heatsinks. That arctic touch falls in love and we believe that MSI knows this very well, since in each generation it takes out a motherboard with this trend. We also leave you a picture of the back area for users who like to see all the details.
The motherboard features two zones with cooling: power phases and for the B360 chipset. It has enough 6 phases of power certified by Military Class technology. Okay… military technology? Basically it is called this way to its components of high duration and that have a lot of quality.
8-pin EPS connection for extra power to the motherboard.
As expected, it has a total of 4 64 GB compatible DDR4 RAM memory sockets with frequencies up to 2666 Mhz. We remind you that these motherboards B360 and H370 are not compatible with the XMP profile or at higher speeds than the one previously marked. All this limitation comes from the chipset.
The MSI B360M Mortar Titanium is presented with a basic layout but more than enough for any user. It has two PCIe 3.0 to x16 slots and two other PCIe 3.0 connections at x1 speed. Really enough to connect a graphics card and a PCI Express grabber.
It's also nice to know that it only allows for a 2 AMD CrossFireX graphics card. While we can only install an Nvidia graphics card. Although with the scarcity that currently exists due to mining, this seems to us to be quite irrelevant.
It has two M.2 NVMe slots compatible with size 2242/2260/2280/22110 (42/60/80 and 110mm) and a bandwidth is 32 GB / s. We did not like that it does not incorporate a cooling system for at least one M.2 NVME unit. We don't get it!
It incorporates an improved 7.1-channel Realtek ALC1120 sound card sound card. But it does not have the same capacity as the Audio Boost that incorporates the MSI Z370 motherboards. We understand it, from somewhere you have to cut to have a competitive price.
Regarding storage, it has four 6 GB / s SATA III connections. Another limitation of this chipset is that it does not allow creating RAID 0, 1, 5 or 10. But with the complement of the other two M.2 NVMe slots we have enough gameplay when it comes to installing hard drives.
Finally we want to detail the rear connections that incorporates the Regarding their rear connections they have:
- 1 x PS / 24 USB 3.0.1 x DVI-D1 x HDMI1 x Displayport1 x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A1 x LAN RJ451 x USB 3.1 Type C5 x audio input / output1 x optical connection

Final words and conclusion about MSI B360M Mortar Titanium
The MSI B360M Mortar Titanium is a motherboard with MicroATX format and a spectacular design. It features a silver colored PCB and heatsinks that look great on any PC mount. With 6 power phases, Military Class components and a good storage medium are its most important characteristics.
Performance tests have been more than good with an i7-8700K and Nvidia GTX 1060. Obtaining great results in Full HD resolution. Although we could really play 2560 x 1440 without any problem without messing around.
We recommend reading the best motherboards on the market
It incorporates a Realtek sound card with improved components and enough rear connections to satisfy any user.
Although we have seen several improvements: it does not include cooling in the M.2 NVMe slots, which is essential today in order to have our high-speed storage units fresh, the sound card could incorporate all the benefits of Audio Boost and not It has Wifi 802.11 AC + Bluetooth connection 5.
Its price will range from 90 euros and we should see it soon listed in the most popular online stores. What do you think about this motherboard? Would you like to see a similar model but with an H370 chipset? We want to know your opinion!
