MSI has taken the opportunity to give an update to its curved 2K gaming monitor with this MSI Optix MPG27CQ2. This new version remains practically invariant in its external design, and the truth is that there is no difference in its basic specifications either. So what brings new?

MSI Optix MPG27CQ2: upgrade in power and image quality

With a feature in its sneak peak of three monitors connected simultaneously, MSI boasts of being the fastest growing brand of gaming monitors in recent times. And the truth is that MSI has built good monitors and enough variety in a short time, and also at very competitive prices.

This MSI Optix MPG27CQ2 is basically a very similar model to the one we already analyzed in October 2018, the MSI Optix MPG27CQ. It is then a gaming monitor with 27 inches diagonal and VA panel that offers a resolution of 2560 × 1440 at a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a response of just 1 ms. In this way it combines the best of IPS panels in image quality and viewing angles, and the speed of TN panels.

What does change is its external power adapter, being 90W compared to 64W from the previous generation, which means that it clearly has more powerful internal hardware. We still have RGB Mystic Light lighting both front and rear and two USB 2.0 at the back. At first glance it seems that its image quality has certainly improved and its OSD panel is also maintained under the SteelSeries GameSense software.

In short, you see that with the information we have, we cannot see significant differences, but we already say that the sensations that it has brought us in person improve those of the previous model, both in image quality and brightness, and in the power of your hardware. We will keep an eye on the publication of its official technical file to keep you aware of the situation.
