We continue to analyze MSI products, this time we have the MSI Vigor GK70 keyboard in hand, which offers a sensational alternative to users who prefer a TKL format. This is a top-quality keyboard with a metal frame and the acclaimed Cherry MX switches that have proven themselves well for decades. Of course they have not forgotten about Mystic Light lighting.

We thank MSI for the transfer of the product.

MSI Vigor K70 technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

The MSI Vigor GK70 keyboard has come to us inside a completely black cardboard box, beyond a sticker there is nothing that refers to what is inside. We open the box and we find the keyboard perfectly protected by several pieces of foam to prevent it from moving during transport. Next to the keyboard we find the detachable USB cable and a kit of spare keys with an extractor included.

We now focus on the MSI Vigor GK70, it is a TKL keyboard in which the numerical part has been dispensed with to offer a more compact product. We have already spoken several times about the advantages of these keyboards, they give us more free space on the table, and also, allow the hands to be closer and a more natural position when playing, resulting in greater comfort of use.

This keyboard reaches dimensions of 3550 x 1350 x 450 mm with a weight of 740 grams, it is a fairly compact keyboard and not excessively heavy, something that makes it ideal to take it to tournaments or friends' house to give them a little envy and that they can also enjoy it. This is also helped by its detachable cable.

MSI Vigor GK70 is based on a floating key design, which means that the switches are placed on the chassis without any unevenness, this makes the appearance more attractive, and helps to facilitate cleaning the keyboard, that's why it is our preferred design. The keyboard continues to have a minimalist design but that demonstrates quality in all its parts with a body that combines the use of aluminum with plastic.

A close look at the keycaps, these are made of double PBT injection for great durability, this design prevents characters from being erased with use and the keys from becoming oily. MSI has included functions for on-the-fly macro recording, gaming mode and even overclock profiles for components of the brand itself.

MSI has assembled the Cherry MX Red switches, the gamers preferred version for their very smooth operation and fast trigger point. These mechanisms have a maximum linear travel of 4mm and 2mm for their activation point. Their activation force is 45 g of pressure so they are very soft and pleasant to the touch. The durability of these Cherry MXs is beyond question with their 50 million keystroke lifespan. Cherry is the undisputed leader in mechanical keyboards, MSI has put the best they have at their fingertips.

MSI Vigor GK70 is designed with a wedge-shaped cam, this helps to achieve greater ergonomics when using it.

In the back we find the two typical folding plastic legs that allow us to slightly lift the keyboard for greater comfort of use if the user sees fit. We also see the Micro USB connector for the cable.

Mystic Light and Gaming Center software

First of all, we have the MSI Mystic Light application. This allows us to configure the keyboard lighting and nothing else. Being an RGB system, we can choose between 16.8 million colors and various light effects.

MSI Gaming Center is a much more complete application than the previous one, in this case it will allow us to configure macros in a very simple way, in addition to lighting and some keyboard shortcuts for functions related to overclocking in the different components of MSI. For now this application only works on MSI equipment, but the manufacturer has provided us with an experimental version that works on all computers.

Final words and conclusion about MSI Vigor GK70

MSI Vigor GK70 is an excellent mechanical keyboard that will delight all demanding users. Its construction is of the best quality with a metal frame and Cherry MX switches, this will keep the keyboard looking like new for many years. The ergonomics when typing is quite good, something to which the lifting legs and the wedge shape of the keyboard contribute, although in this sense the inclusion of a wrist rest is missed.

Cherry guarantees 50 million keystrokes per key, this means you will get bored with it before it breaks. The Red version of these buttons is preferred by gamers due to their softness, although this does not mean that they are not good switches for other uses, this review has been written with the MSI Vigor GK70 itself, which shows that it is also an excellent keyboard for typing.

Finally, we talk about Mystic Light lighting, it is highly configurable and contributes to giving our desk a spectacular appearance. MSI Vigor GK70 is for sale for an approximate price of 159 euros.
