Mushkin has announced the availability of its first 3d nand memory ssd drives
Table of contents:
Mushkin has announced the availability on the market of its first SSD drives made with 3D NAND memory technology that offers a much higher storage density, with this it can offer drives with a remarkable capacity and more aggressive prices although the low availability of NAND chips makes prices higher than they should be.
Mushkin ARMOR3D and Triactor 3D
Mushkin ARMOR3D is the replacement of the previous Mushkin Reactor and is characterized by being one of the cheapest discs that are based on NAND MLC memory technology, remember that most of the models on the market have opted for the inclusion of TLC memory that It allows to reduce manufacturing costs although its durability is significantly lower. The new Mushkin ARMOR3D disks continue to bet on the Silicon Motion SM2258 controller, although this time it is accompanied by 3D NAND MLC memory manufactured by Micron, specifically, 32-layer memory is used instead of the most modern 64-layer memory. On the other hand we have the Mushkin Triactor 3D that makes the leap to the use of 3D TLC memory to try to offer a more attractive solution in terms of sale price.
SSD drives with TLC vs MLC memories
The hardware components that we can find in the new Mushkin ARMOR3D are very similar to those present in the ADATA SU800, SU900 and XPG SX950 since they are based on the same controller and the same memory, therefore the differences will be mainly due to the firmware that each manufacturer has implemented. Prices have not been announced.
