Several media outlets report that AMD may launch Navi 12 and Navi 14 graphics cards in October, as the chipmaker has introduced support for Navi 12 and Navi 14 in Mesa 19.2 drivers.

AMD's Navi 12 and Navi 14 could launch next quarter

AMD's last-minute effort to add support for the Navi 12 and Navi 14 in Mesa 19.2 doesn't necessarily mean that the corresponding graphics cards will be released soon, but it is a very concrete possibility. We can't rule out the possibility that AMD just wanted to prepare support on Mesa for the launch of Navi 12 and Navi 14, which could be next month, next, or even next year.

Now that Mesa 19.2 has support for both Navi 12 and Navi 14, AMD could theoretically release the corresponding graphics cards before Mesa 19.3 is available. According to Mesa's release schedule, version 19.3 RC1 is scheduled for October 15, while the final version is scheduled for November 5. If we are optimistic, AMD could release its new charts next quarter.

The latest rumors that have emerged about these GPUs mention a CompuBench entry that points to an alleged Navi 14 with 24 compute units (CU) and 4GB of memory. Other than that, we have no further leads on Navi 12 or Navi 14.

The Navi 12 will power the RX 5600 series, while the Navi 14 is purportedly designed for the RX 5500 series. However, some claim otherwise. Navi 12 is speculated to be larger than Navi 10 with 64 calculation units out of 40.

All doubts will be dispelled over time, as AMD begins to reveal its RX 5600 and 5500 series. We will keep you informed.
