Nfortec Vela MX is the manufacturer's most advanced heatsink and arrives to step one step above its younger brother the Vela KX. Thanks to its four copper heatpipes and a 140mm fan with automatic speed adjustment, it is able to offer sensational performance with the latest processors on the market.

Technical characteristics Nfortec Vela MX

Unboxing and design

Nfortec Vela MX comes very well protected in a cardboard box, on the different faces of the box we find the brand's logo along with images of the heatsink and its most important characteristics, these come in several languages including Spanish.

Once we open the box we find the following bundle:

  • 1 Heatsink Body 1 140mm Fan 1 x Backplate 1 x Thermal Paste Syringe 4 x Fan Clips 2 x Mounting Bracket 4 x Bracket Screws 4 x LGA Screws 2011 4 x LGA 115x Screws

Nfortec Vela MX is a heatsink with dimensions of 146 mm x 90 mm x 159 mm and a weight of 140 grams that is built with the classic tower-shaped format, a design that has been adopted by almost all manufacturers as it It has proven to be the most efficient when it comes to doing its job. Most of the heatsink is made up of its dense 50-fin aluminum radiator that has the function of increasing the heat exchange surface to improve the dissipation capacity.

Next to the radiator we highlight its four copper heatpipes with a thickness of 8 mm and which have direct contact technology with the processor to maximize heat transfer during system operation.

The set is completed with an advanced 140mm fan that includes PWM technology, thanks to which it is able to adjust its rotation speed according to the need for cooling. This can offer the best balance between cooling capacity and silence depending on the needs of the system.

This fan includes a hydraulic bearing to reduce vibrations and the noise generated during its operation, the blades have been optimized to move the maximum air flow possible with the minimum noise. The fan is capable of rotating at a speed between 600-1200 RPM with a maximum noise of 20 dBa. Nfortec includes the parts necessary to mount a second fan.

The design of the Nfortec Vela MX has been designed so as not to disturb the RAM memory modules and uses a backplate to fix it to the processor socket.

Installation is quite simple on the LGA 2066 platform. It is as simple as attaching the additional plates to the heatsink base with the four screws.

Now we apply the thermal paste on the heatsink and join with the screws for the LGA 20XX socket. Remaining the heatsink as follows:

The truth is that the base does not cover the entire IHS of the heatsink, which is why we already see insufficient cooling for this platform. But our tests will remove us from doubts.

To test the real performance of the heatsink we are going to stress the best processor on the market: the Intel Kaby Lake-X i7-7800X. Our tests consist of 72 uninterrupted hours of work. In stock values, since with overclock it has not been possible to perform it due to its high temperatures in default values. In this way, we can observe the highest temperature peaks and the average that the heatsink reaches. We must bear in mind that when playing or using other types of software, the temperature will drop dramatically between 7 to 12ºC.

How are we going to measure the processor temperature?

We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For that test on Intel processors we will use the CPUID HwMonitor application in its latest version. Although it is not the most reliable test of the moment, it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The ambient temperature is 21º.

Let's see the results obtained:

The temperatures at rest are very good with 23 ºC in all its cores, but when we have stressed it to the maximum for many hours, the temperatures rise to 86ºC. And is that this heatsink is not enough for this new platform that generates so much heat… So we do not recommend it for this platform, but if for the LGA 1151?

Final words and conclusion about Nfortec Vela MX

The Nfortec Vela MX heatsink is a heatsink with a great quality / price ratio on the market. Capable of efficiently dissipating the LGA 115X platform like AMD's Am3 platform. But when we try to dissipate a top of the range platform it can in stock values but we must underclock the processor to have better temperatures.

Its assembly is easy and too simple. We believe that the anchoring system for the LGA 2066 platform could be greatly improved, although we believe that over time they will refine their installation anchor and all its components. Totally logical, for a brand "newborn".

We recommend reading the best heatsinks on the market

Currently we find the heatsink for a price of 24 euros in Spanish online stores. A highly recommended purchase to keep your processor cool in summer.
