Nintendo Sues Two Websites Offering ROMs From Their Classic Games, Full Details
Last week, Nintendo America filed a lawsuit looking for several million in damages, for the files of the classic games that are published on various websites, what we know as ROMs used in emulators. The lawsuit alleges "blatant and massive violation of Nintendo's intellectual property rights" by sites LoveROMs and LoveRetro. The lawsuit includes screenshots and explanations to demonstrate exactly how site users can access thousands of Nintendo video games, copyrighted works.

Nintendo is looking to get a lot of money out of these lawsuits, specifically looking for $ 150, 000 for the infringement of each game, and up to $ 2, 000, 000 for the infringement of each Nintendo trademark. If we multiply these amounts by each of the games available as ROM, we get several billions.
Following the lawsuit, LoveROMs was updated to remove all Nintendo-related links, including ROMs and emulators. In addition, the website announced on social media that all Nintendo titles have been removed from its site. LoveRetro now redirects to a single text page that says the site has been effectively closed until further notice.
What do you think of this attitude of Nintendo against LoveROMs and LoveRetro?
