Coming from Computex , we continue commenting on news from the multinational Noctua . The inventions and improvements of the Austrian company are not over, since they are also with the heatsink technology and here we are going to see its D-Type Heatsinks

Type-D heatsinks: better structure, better performance

Noctua heatsinks without fan

These heatsinks were born in the design of their fellow veterans NH-D15 and NH-D155, two components that have been awarded in the past.

These heatsinks have 7 heatpipes instead of the 6 of their previous version to transport heat . In addition, they have 10% more surface area with which to cool that excess temperature. The company speaks of superior dissipation capacity (even above the 400W that some TR4s demand).

Noctua heatsink with a fan

It has an asymmetric design so as not to be too annoying for other components and we can choose them in two different designs. One model to install a single fan and another model to install two.

The sockets in which we can install them will be the AM4, LGA20xx and LGA115X. On the other hand, there will be can adapted for TR4. The NF-A15 fan or fans with a PWM will come as standard and will bring the new NT-H2 with thermal paste .

NH-D15 Temperature Controlled Test vs Type-D Heatsinks

In controlled tests, these prototypes fulfilled what was expected of them. They faced their predecessor, the NH-D15 which was awarded as the best heatsink in its range. The results were very satisfactory, since they managed to reduce the average temperature by one degree Celsius.

According to Noctua , these fans will be able to withstand long periods of turbo and even overclocking. After releasing all this data, if they are met, we expect a bright future for this component.

The release date for Noctua's 14mm D-Type Heatsinks will be in early 2020 . Less than half a year left.

Would you use a classic ventilation system for overclocking? Do you think heatsinks need RGB? Tell us your ideas in the comment box.
