NVIDIA recently began supporting Adaptive-Sync (FreeSync) as the G-Sync standard. This means that all those monitors that are checked by NVIDIA for full compatibility will get a certification, which manufacturers can put in their box to increase sales.

New Monitors Add NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible Label

The list has been updated with new models of monitors labeled as NVIDIA certified. There are currently seventeen certified monitors, five of which have been recently added. This includes two Asus models, which were announced earlier this month. These have TN panels and a maximum refresh rate of 165 Hz. There are also two new Acer models. The ED273 has a 144 Hz panel, while the XF250 reaches 240 Hz. We also have a BenQ XL2540 240 Hz model that achieves the G-Sync Compatible certificate.

NVIDIA says it has tested the "G-Sync Compatible" displays for errors that may arise, such as flickering or other graphics anomalies. Of the more than 400 screens tested by NVIDIA, the green company found only 15 drives good enough. If you have an adaptive sync monitor that is not certified, this option is disabled by default, you can manually enable it on the controller.

NVIDIA has had to give up some ground in this regard due to the great popularity of FreeSync in the modern monitor landscape, although it remains quite rigorous in supporting G-Sync Compatible on many of today's monitors.
