Artificial intelligence is the fad in today's technology, great advances have made it possible to equip many devices with extensive deep learning capabilities. Nvidia is the undisputed leader in the industry, and intends to strengthen its position with a new research center in Toronto.

Nvidia will triple its artificial intelligence template with a new laboratory in Canada

The new artificial intelligence research laboratory will be based in Toronto, right next to the company's office that opened in 2015 in the city. This new laboratory will increase the size of the office to triple the number of researchers working in artificial intelligence and deep learning by the end of this year 2018.

Sanja Fidler will be the director of this new Nvidia laboratory, she is a computer scientist and professor at the University of Toronto. Fidler's research focuses primarily on deep learning and computer vision, with a connection to natural language processing, Fidler will retain her position as a teacher while running the new lab.

Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development says that the fundamental work of artificial intelligence being carried out in Toronto further solidifies Canada's place as a world leader in this field. Canada has been growing as a technology hub, with Google's parent company Alphabet partnering with the city of Toronto to build a new, futuristic complex in the region.

Hopefully the new Nvidia lab will help give artificial intelligence technologies a further boost for the future.
