After a launch of the Radeon RX 500 passed through fryer oil, Nvidia has decided to move tab in the graphics card market on several fronts, one of them is the arrival of a GeForce GT 1030 to stand up to the smallest of the AMD cards based on Polaris.

GeForce GT 1030 with a new core at 14nm

The GeForce GT 1030 will mark the debut of Pascal GP108 silicon manufactured at 14nm to enhance the already excellent energy efficiency of current Pascal chips at 16nm. This core will consist of a total of 512 CUDA Cores that will be accompanied by 2 GB of GDDR5 memory with a 128-bit interface and a bandwidth that should be around 112 GB / s.

The best thing about this card is that its power consumption will be extremely low so it will only be powered through the motherboard, however, we could see custom versions with a 6-pin connector to improve the overclock margin, but this is our speculation. This low consumption would allow offering fanless versions of this card, ideal for computers where silence matters more than great graphics processing power. The GeForce GT 1030 will be announced in mid-May.

Nvidia is not satisfied with it, but intends to bring forward the arrival of its cards based on the promising Volta architecture to the third quarter of 2017, a design focused on greatly improving the energy efficiency of the current Pascal, so we will see a new generation of much more powerful cards with very low power consumption. Volta will mean the arrival of HBM2 memory to Nvidia cards intended for gaming.
