Nvidia geforce gtx 1180, leaked on gfxbench?
Table of contents:
For several weeks there has been speculation about the possible release of a GTX 11 series of graphics cards that, in exchange for a lower price and better competitiveness in the market, would lose the Ray Tracing capabilities of the GeForce RTX. Now it appears that a possible benchmark for the GTX 1180 has been leaked. Is it real?
A validated GFXBench benchmark speaks of the "GTX 1180"
The performance test can be checked in the GFXBench database. This is not a screenshot but an actual test. In it, we see performance equal to the RTX 2080, and the software actually passes the tests as if it were a 2080, which would mean that it is the same graphics chip.
For several days there have been leaks around a possible GTX 1160 or even 1160 Ti, but it is still unknown if they are real.
The problem is that, despite the fact that the benchmark is published on the official website of GFXBench so it is perfectly validatable, we do not know if modifications have been made to falsify the name of the GPU. This counterfeiting can be done on mobile, but we do not know if it can be done on PC.
Does a series of GTX 11 graphics cards make sense? The truth is that yes. There are many users who are indifferent to Ray Tracing, and creating a new series of graphics cards with the Turing core but without RT or Tensor Cores would be a reasonable move that could please them, while reserving other technologies such as DLSS for graphics. RTX. In a hypothetical scenario where AMD charts were more competitive, it would make even more sense.
Caution is important when faced with this type of leak. In any case, a GTX 11 generation would surely be welcome, especially on cheaper cards where ray tracing is considerably less usable than on high-end RTX. Do you think this release is possible? Leave your opinion in the comments!
