Having our PC well internally refrigerated is very important and if at the same time we accompany it with a lighting system it is much better, right? There are many RGB fans on the market, but not all with the quality of the new NZXT Aer RGB. On this occasion, we have the 120 mm version with its HUE + RGB system. Do you want to know more about him? Don't miss our review!

First of all, thank us to NZXT for the trust placed in giving us the product for their review.

NZXT Aer RGB technical features

Unboxing and design

The NZXT Aer RGB They come packed in a box of small dimensions and that on its cover tells us that it will incorporate the HUE + controller that so much hype is having in the world of modding.

While in the back of the box we find all its most important technical characteristics. As a note, on both sides come a total of 10 quick product descriptions (including our Spanish).

Once we open the box we find 2 sections. The first houses two 120mm fans, while the second we find the HUE + controller and all the wiring to supply the complete system. In other words, the bundle is made up of:

  • Two 120mm NZXT Aer RGB fans. HUE + controller. Power supply cable and connection to the controller motherboard (microUSB). 6 cm extension cable. 6 cm reducer cable. Screws for the fans, in case we want to fasten them to the chassis. Quick installation guide.

The NZXT Aer RGB They are fans with dimensions of 120 x 120 x 25 mm and that come to meet the needs of good performance inside your PC and give a unique lighting effect.

Its bearing system is the classic static pressure and is capable of rotating from 500 RPM to 1500 RPM, it exerts a static pressure of 1.36 mmH20, an air flow of 61.4 CFM and a minimum noise of 22 CFM up to 31 dBa at maximum power.

As we can see in its technical specifications, the NZXT Aer RGB have a very good static pressure that will offer us a very good performance compared to 95% of the market. Another of its key points is its low noise, its high air flow and its complete RGB lighting system.

How do we manage the lighting of the system? We must have your CAM software installed to perform any effect. But we will see this in detail in its section.

Once the fans are presented, it's time to talk about the controller, specifically the HUE +. It is similar in size to a 2.5 ″ hard drive and can be installed in any hard drive cabinet.

As the only connections we find two connectors for each channel, a microUSB connector that goes to the motherboard ( internal USB 2.0 ) and a DC power connector.

In the lower area we have a sticker with the serial number and it is screen printed that works at + 5V DC (logical to be a USB).

Finally, the same thing you may be asking yourself: What channels are they? Pluggable fans or two fan cuts? It allows us to connect two series of fans, that for each channel we can connect a maximum of 5 fans.

CAM software to manage lighting

We have already spoken on more than one occasion about the complete CAM management software from NZXT. Fully compatible with any system and without the need to use a brand component. To take advantage of all the lighting system of the fans we must have CAM installed. In the Adjustment - Lighting section it will allow us to manage each channel.

Among its options it allows us to modify the colors and different effects:

  • Permanent. Breathing Attenuation. Marquee. Canopy coverage. Pulse. Spectrum wave. Alternate. Candle light.

It also allows us to configure the fans, according to the temperature of our system. The two key components like processor and graphics card can be synchronized with the NZXT Aer RGB. Personally it is one of the options that we like the most, since if we see that the fans in red color is that we have a problem with the system?

Final words and conclusion about NZXT Aer RGB

The NZXT Aer RGB and the HUE + controller are one of the best combinations that you can give your PC without losing performance. At technical levels they are high-end fans, with a base operation of 500 RPM, and which is capable of rising to 1500 RPM to offer greater efficiency.

In our case we have equipped it with a double radiator liquid cooling system. The results have been as expected, having a performance similar to the fans in stock but dressing the system better.

We recommend reading our guide on the best heatsinks, liquid coolers and fans of the moment.

Personalization is maximum thanks to its CAM software. With it, we can customize up to 9 profiles modes and even create your own custom design. Making it a customizable lighting system that is unrivaled today in the range of fans.

As you can imagine it is not a cheap kit. For example, the model with two 140mm fans + the Hue + comes out for 89.95 euros. While the 120 mm with a fan with the HUE + at 80.95 euros. Loose fans usually cost between 28 to 33 euros each unit. Of course, it is not within everyone's reach.
