Today we present a product that will delight the most fans of pre-assembled liquid cooling kits, we are dealing with the NZXT Kraken X52 that promises to be one of the best on the market in terms of performance as well as including a very attractive aesthetic in which the central axis is an RGB LED lighting system with an infinite mirror effect.
NZXT Kraken X52 technical characteristics
Unboxing and analysis
First we look at the product package, the NZXT Kraken X52 arrives in an elongated cardboard box with a fairly typical design in its family products. On the front we see the brand's logo and a large image of the kit itself.
The sides and the back have been used to include all the main specifications of the product as well as its content.
We highlight that the NZXT Kraken X52 is compatible with all modern platforms from Intel and AMD with the exception of AM4, there is really no mention of the latter so we do not know if it will be compatible or if any other accessory will have to be ordered from the manufacturer.
The bundle includes all the cables necessary for the installation of the product, we find a mini-USB cable to USB header for its connection to the motherboard and to be able to monitor all the parameters and a cable that we will connect to a fan header of the motherboard and a SATA power port. This last cable is in charge of supplying the energy necessary for the operation of the pump and the two fans.
Speaking of fans, the manufacturer encloses two NZXT AER P120 units with dimensions of 120 x 120 x 25 mm and that have PWM technology to regulate their speed automatically according to the need for cooling of our processor. These two fans can rotate at a speed between 500 and 2000 RPM with a noise level between 21 dB and 36 dB.
Now we look at the radiator, it is made up of a large number of aluminum fins that aim to maximize the heat exchange surface, the more surface that is exposed the greater amount of heat it will be possible to dissipate and therefore the better the performance heatsink. This is one of the most basic laws of thermodynamics and therefore the highest performance heatsinks are always large. This radiator has dimensions of 275 x 123 x 30 mm and allows us to install the two fans supplied by the manufacturer. The two tubes that connect it to the pump and that logically are in charge of conducting the cooling fluid start from the radiator itself.
Finally we come to the pump that is the main protagonist of this kit, this element presents an advanced RGB LED lighting system with a spectacular infinity mirror effect, something that is difficult to describe in words but that you will see in the images without problems. As always, the pump includes the water block for the CPU, it has a top quality electrolytic copper base to absorb as much heat as possible from the processor and direct it to the radiator for dissipation.
We highlight that it includes pre-applied thermal paste to make the assembly as simple as possible.
Below you can see the pump with its lighting on and its infinite mirror effect, being an RGB system we can configure it in 16.8 million colors and we can even make them change, really one of the most beautiful designs we have seen.
Now we see the advanced CAM software that shows us all the parameters related to the NZXT Kraken X52 such as the speed of the fans and the temperature of the coolant. It is also a complete control center that gives us information about all the components of our computer.
Mounting and installation on platform 1151
For our performance tests we are going to use the most popular platform on the market: LGA 1151 with Z170 motherboard. First we must identify the backplate and all the hardware for Intel. In this case we have both X99 and LGA 115X.
First we fix the backplate in the rear area of the motherboard and adjust the four notches to the motherboard. And we flip the motherboard.
Next we screw the main socket screws, remaining in this way. We also insert the thermal paste since the next step is to place the block.
The placement of the block is no mystery, we put it on top with its respective screws and screw in the fixing screws.
WE RECOMMEND YOU BG Hellcat Review in Spanish (Complete analysis)To power the pump we connect the 3-pin cable, a SATA power cable and the internal USB cable.

To test the real performance of the heatsink we are going to stress the best processor on the market: the Intel Skylake i5-6600k. Our tests consist of 72 uninterrupted hours of work. In stock values and with overclock 4500 mhz. In this way, we can observe the highest temperature peaks and the average that the heatsink reaches. We must bear in mind that when playing or using other types of software, the temperature will drop dramatically between 7 to 12ºC.
How are we going to measure the processor temperature?
We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For that test on Intel processors we will use the CPUID HwMonitor application in its latest version. Although it is not the most reliable test of the moment, it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The ambient temperature is 21º.
Let's see the results obtained:
Final words and conclusion about NZXT Kraken X52
The NZXT Kraken X52 is one of the best best liquid cooling we've tested in 2016. We were delighted that the pump noise is almost nil, its design makes you fall in love thanks to that configurable LED color ring in various colors and its compatibility with any socket on the market.
In our tests we have obtained 22ºC at rest the i5-6600k while at full capacity we have reached up to 52ºC. With overclock, remember 4500 MHz, we have 25ºC at rest and 66ºC at maximum performance. Seeing these tables, it is great and it is positioned as the best.
Regarding its compatibility, it allows us to install it on AMD and Intel platforms. We have used the classic Intel LGA 115X, and it reminds us a lot of the anchors that they use (identical) to another company that we analyze a lot of products.
Its price in store is 149 euros, of course it is not a cheap price but it is a fully recommended liquid cooling kit.
