Eight gpu amd navi variants are detected in linux code

While we know that AMD plans to launch the RX 5700 and 5700 XT graphics cards in the coming months, there has been much speculation as to whether these are individual versions of the GPU or whether or not a full range has been planned after launch.

More variants of AMD Navi GPUs are detected in Linux code

We may have received a response to that effect when it was revealed earlier this month that 5 variants had been observed within an EEC certification. Now, we see that there may be 8 Navi models that have been found in the Linux code.

It must be recognized that 8 models seem a bit unusual, although they could have different interpretations. Perhaps it is a range of 4 cards with 4 similar laptop variants. The short version is that everything is speculation, but at least Linux is suggesting the following;

  • NV_NAVI10_P_A0 = 1, NV_NAVI12_P_A0 = 10, NV_NAVI14_M_A0 = 20, NV_NAVI21_P_A0 = 40, NV_NAVI10_LITE_P_A0 = 0x80, NV_NAVI10_LITE_P_B0 = 0x81, NV_NAVI12_LX_0X_AX_0_0

It could also be possible possible that one (or more) of these are more 'workstation' based graphics cards. Right now, we just don't know.

AMD plans to launch two graphics cards starting July 7, these are the RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT. The addition of more post-launch models is more than possible, but we still do not have confirmation from AMD.
