Opera 50 adds a cryptocurrency mining blocker
Table of contents:
Opera is the first web browser that is taking seriously one of the most questionable practices that is beginning to happen on the Internet. It turns out that some websites, of dubious reputation, are implementing a script that our computer uses to mine cryptocurrencies . One of the most famous cases is The Pirate Bay, but there are other sites with a lot of traffic that use it.
The 'NoCoin' function is now available in Opera 50 Beta
In its latest version, Opera has integrated a new function that will allow us to block scripts that attempt to mine Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. The function called 'NoCoin' is available from the browser options and promises to block any attempt to mine cryptocurrencies.
It should be mentioned that the 'NoCoin' function was added to the Beta version of Opera 50, which we can download from the following link. Currently the definitive version, Opera 49, does not have this option.
Opera has always been a pioneer in terms of functions and added value in its browser, offering for some time an integrated VPN, its own AdBlocker and bandwidth reduction. The browser is once again a pioneer with this web mining blocker, the first to use it. Hopefully other browsers like Firefox or Google Chrome may also have a built-in web mining blocker in the future.
Bitcoin remains the most popular currency for this practice, which today suffered a large drop of between 30-40% in its price.
