Ozone Rage X60 is the new low-cost gaming headset from the Spanish company, it is a model that seeks to offer the best comfort of use, along with great sound and good aesthetics for a very reasonable price. Nor does it renounce virtual 7.1 sound and a red lighting system. Has the brand achieved its goal? Find out with us in this review in Spanish.
First of all, we thank Ozone for the trust placed in us when transferring the product to us for analysis.
Ozone Rage X60 technical characteristics
Unboxing and design
The Ozone Rage X60 comes in a good quality cardboard box and with a print based on the company's corporate colors, red and black that are also identified with gaming. The front shows us a detailed image while on the back all its most important characteristics and specifications appear. We open the box and we find the Ozone Rage X60 headset along with the documentation, basically a small user manual.
Ozone Rage X60 works with a USB 2.0 connector, which means that it includes its own DAC to convert the digital files that come from our PC to an analog format, that the speakers can reproduce. This internal DAC also gives you the ability to deliver virtual 7.1 sound thanks to its software. Something we miss is a control knob on the cable, so that all adjustments will have to be made from the software or the operating system itself. The cable is 2 meters long and twisted.
Ozone Rage X60 is based on a double bridge headband design, a concept that we really like since it makes the peripheral more comfortable to use by reducing weight and pressure on the head, thanks to which it will not bother us in the sessions of use longer. The headband includes a height adjustment system, which is automatically adjusted when you put on the headset. The overall design is quite robust, and very flexible. Ozone Rage X60 is built in good quality plastic which makes it weigh only 350 grams, something that together with the design of the headband will make us not even know that we are wearing them.
The domes are simple in design, but they don't give up a touch of originality with the inclusion of a red LED lighting system . Along with this we see a small area finished in metal mesh, this can make it look like an open headset, but nothing is further from reality, it is just an aesthetic detail. On the inside of the domes we see the pads, quite abundant and soft, as well as being finished in leatherette to achieve the best insulation.
Inside the domes are some neodymium drivers with a size of 50 mm, quite large so we can expect good sound quality if they are of good quality. These drivers offer a response frequency of 18 Hz - 20, 000 Hz, an impedance of 32 Ω and a sensitivity not announced by the manufacturer.
In the left dome we find the microphone, it is an omnidirectional unit with a response frequency of 100 Hz - 10, 000 Hz, an impedance of 2.2 KΩ and a sensitivity of -54 dB ± 3 dB. It is a fixed micro, so that we cannot remove it. One detail is that it includes an anti pop filter, once we remove it we reveal the microphone, which to our surprise includes an on / off switch.
Ozone Rage X60 Software
Ozone Rage X60 and its complete management software make use of Cmedia and its Xear Living digital processing technology. Thanks to the use of this technology, 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound is obtained and it is also capable of providing greater stereo presence in 2.0 sources.
Once the software is installed we open it and see that it is fully translated into Spanish, which is great. The application stays in the background and is accessible from the Ozone icon in the system tray. We see a control panel that is divided into two sections: speaker configuration and unidirectional microphone configuration. In addition, at the top we have a bar to adjust the volume level, something that we can also do from the integrated control in the cable in problem.
The different submenus include the following speaker adjustment panels:
- General volume control with a slider bar and two bars for the left and right channels. Adjustment of the sampling frequency in 44.1KHz or 48KHz, both being at 16bit. A 10 band equalizer that goes from 30 Hz to 16 KHz and with a level range of -20 db to + 20 db in each band. menu to set various environment effects, plus reverb is added in some environments and allows us to select the desired environment size. Virtual Speaker for the configuration of virtual 7.1 surround sound , it can also be configured as 5.1 or stereo as well as regulating the proximity of the transducers. Ozone Sing FX that allows us to change the tone of the sound source in 5 novels. Surround Max to enable the emulated 7.1 surround sound effect to add some reverb and widen the sound field.
Finally, we see the different submenus referring to the microphone configuration:
- A slider bar volume control. Adjustment of the sampling frequency to 44.1KHz or 48KHz, both being 16bit. Xear SingFX that allows us to add different pre-defined tone profiles to the microphone for voice effects and up to 5 echo levels. Microphone Boost to boost microphone volume.
Final words and conclusion about Ozone Rage X60
This Ozone Rage X60 headset has pleasantly surprised us, especially for the sound quality, which is well above what we expected for a product in its range. This headset follows the gaming trend of offering sound with a V-profile, which means that it boosts bass and treble above the medium, although it is not as exaggerated as in many other models. As a result, we have a fairly balanced sound profile, which adapts very well to all uses, both games and music and movies. We believe that Ozone has shown in this regard how to do a great job.
Comfort is the other great protagonist, something that you can already intuit when you see its design, Ozone Rage X60 feels really very light on the head and does not bother in the longer sessions of use. Its great flexibility helps that the pressure on the ears is not excessive, nor less than necessary to offer good insulation.
The microphone picks up a fairly clean and natural sound, at this point it beats many much more expensive headsets so there is nothing we can do but praise Ozone for it. Putting a fixed microphone has made the product cheaper, without having to sacrifice its quality, something that seems to us a very good decision. The only downside of the mike, is that its on / off button is a bit uncomfortable to use because it is in an unusual place, although it should not be a problem really
Ozone Rage X60 is for sale for a price of 39.99 euros, a very tight figure for everything it offers us.
