Pc gaming rig x99

A few months ago I set up an X99 for my personal use but finally it did not work because I got more reviews of x99 motherboards and I wanted to make the most of the processor and DDR4 memory for the test bench. Now and once the plates have been stabilized and after testing the vast majority of LGA 2011-3 motherboards on the market, I have chosen the best components for my “mega machine” that I detail below.

Case: Fractal Define R5

My choice is this fantastic silent box, with a devastating design and that its materials are full of quality. Among the new innovations that this box incorporates we find the possibility of installing a 360 mm liquid refrigeration, the hard disk and optical cabinets are removable. It can house any ATX motherboard and high-end graphics card. Buy the color black without window because I prefer to have maximum silence than to have a party of lights coming out of it.

Antec HCP-1000w Power Supply

Whoever follows me from the beginning knows my predilection for power supplies, being the most important component. We have 1000W with 80 PLUS Titanium certification, 100% modular and a semi fanless fan. A real pass… sin of not having cables already meshed and flexible… although we will fix that with some white extensions?

Processor: i7-5820K

The best quality / price processor on the market with 6 cores, with the possibility of overclocking, it includes all the instructions, 15MB of cache, compatibility with DDR4 memories, 3300 mhz speed and 28 LANES. I was between the eternal doubt… i7-4790K or i7-5820K and for the price difference choose this one.

Asus X99 Deluxe motherboard

This time I pulled for Asus and its excellent BIOS support. I love its white design that fits with everything… Although there are little things that I do not like as the position of the stack, for the rest it seems to me to be 10 and at the height of the Asus Rampage V Extreme. Why not the RVE? Simply because I had to opt for a bigger box and it implied having a closet instead of a tower and things that I took with tweezers.

DDR4 G.Skills Ripjaws 4 to 3000 Mhz RAM

Here I had no doubts… Ripjaws 4 at 3000 mhz. Although right now it does not make much sense because it costs your life to put them at this speed… with time everything will be easier and 3000 mhz is a respectable speed. It also has a 10 year warranty, I have memory for a while.

Graphics card MSI GTX 970 Gaming

I am looking for silence and the MSI system, which for the fans at rest was the perfect candidate. It is true that Asus in both the Strix and Direct CU version this system but only offers one current input, while the MSI has two. I sacrifice the backplate but there are always fixes ^^. Best of all, I got a good 80% ASIC

Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD + 2TB 7200 RPM Hard Drive

I always use SSD + mechanical hard disk combos, although it will not be long. I plan to upgrade to a 1TB SSD for games and software. A high-end team must at least carry this configuration. Alternatives you have both in Kingston in the Fury series and in Crucial with the new BX.

WE RECOMMEND YOU Noctua shows new heatsinks for AMD EPYC / Threadripper

Liquid cooling: Raijintek Triton

The jewel in the crown.. the wonderful Raijintek Triton with two 120mm fans. I have put the red ink and in reality hallucinates. Spectacular.

Active cooling: Noctua Redux 120mm x 2 and 140mm

I have chosen to change the case fans and pass the 140mm Fractal rear on the front. Installing two Redux of 120 mm and 140 mm.

And this is the result:

Sublime and it goes like a shot. The equipment keeps me below 28ºC and Full does not exceed 40ºC with all the fans controlled by the motherboard. I am in love with him and believe that he is worth it. Better not to count the cost of the equipment… but its next updates will be: 1TB SSD for storage and a second GTX 970 Gaming.

What do you think? I await your comments.
