During Computex 2017, Intel VROC (Virtual Raid On CPU) technology was presented, which allows up to 20 M.2 SSDs to be put into Raid 0 for free. The technology is only supported by those Skylake-X processors.

Although VROC promises to be a small revolution at the storage level for SSD drives, Intel places some limitations on it, for example, we can only install an operating system from RAID if we use SSDs that are from Intel, if we use SSDs from other brands, only They can be used as storage, although we do not see it as a too important limitation, if it is something to consider.

In the CrystalMark tests, we can see that 11, 697 MB / s were reached in data reading and 4504 MB / s in writing, with an increase in linear performance, which makes us see that RAID 0 with Intel VROC works wonderfully. in tests.

In order to use Intel VROC, an x299 motherboard and Skylake-X processor (Intel Core i9) will be required. Support for Kaby-Lake X has yet to be confirmed by Intel.
