Qnap expands its range of nas for SMEs with two new 4-bay and rackmount models for group work
Madrid, April 8, 2013: - QNAP ® Systems, Inc., the Taiwanese manufacturer of NAS storage products for consumers and SMEs, has expanded its range of NAS products for small businesses with the launch of the Rackmount Turbo NAS models, the TS-421U and the TS-420U. The two models are specifically designed to be an affordable network storage solution for small workgroups and for start-up SMBs where rapid and growing demand for increased storage capacity is anticipated in the future. The TS-421U is powered by a 2.0 GHz Marvell processor, and the TS-420U is powered by a 1.6 GHz Marvell processor, and both models operate on 1 GB of DDR3 RAM, thus providing consistent and high performance for daily routines. file storage, sharing, and data backup.

The TS-421U and TS-420U offer high efficiency in daily business operations and privilege control. The two new models support multi-platform file sharing for Windows ®, Mac ® and Linux / UNIX, and provide a centralized storage solution. Windows AD and LDAP directory service features allow IT administrator to retrieve user accounts from Windows AD or LDAP based directory server and efficiently assign access rights on Turbo NAS, greatly simplifying configuration account for companies with large numbers of users. The Windows ACL (Access Control List) function allows sophisticated settings of shared folder permissions, thus facilitating the task of managing access rights.
The two new models also offer a well-balanced backup solution with comprehensive backup options, including Remote Real-Time Replication (RTRR), cloud backups including Amazon® S3, ElephantDrive® and Symform®, and They are compatible with third-party backup software, such as Veeam® Backup & Replication and Acronis ® True Image. Windows and Mac users can respectively use the QNAP NetBak Replicator utility as well as the Apple Time Machine, to easily back up data to the Turbo NAS.
Other features designed for professional environments include an FTP server to facilitate the exchange of large files, the RADIUS server to centralize and consolidate user authentication, the Syslog server to collect and store the logs of other network devices on the Turbo NAS, the VPN server for Internet access to the Turbo NAS and other resources on the same local network, the proxy server for filtering and monitoring the web and thus improve the security of companies on the Internet, the web server to host multiple websites on the Turbo NAS, and so on.
