Qnap releases new enterprise zfs nas es1686dc with dual controller

QNAP officially launches the new next-generation Enterprise ZFS NAS ES1686dc. On this occasion, the company has incorporated dual active controllers with Intel Xeon D processors. It supports SAS 12Gb / s and each controller has four 10GbE SFP + LAN ports, eight RDIMM slots with up to 512 GB of memory, two M.2 SSD slots for SSD caching configuration and a scalable design for a storage capacity of up to 1 PB.

This new ES1686dc shows excellent performance and an uninterrupted high availability storage solution. It has the ability to reach service level agreements in terms of performance and uptime.

Thanks to an active-active dual controller architecture, it ensures high availability with a downtime close to zero. Battery-protected DRAM writing for cache data protection and Flash read acceleration reduces the risk of losing data from the write cache. It has two PCIe slots that support 10GbE / 40GbE network cards to enhance virtualization, streaming media and other applications that use the maximum bandwidth.

Thanks to the QDA-SA 6Gbps SAS to SATA Drive Adapter, the ES1686dc allows the use of a 6Gb / s SATA drive in a 3.5-inch SAS drive bay. In this way, enabling SATA SSDs to share the benefits of dual SAS port for a fault tolerant enterprise storage environment. The QNAP Enterprise ZFS NAS ES1686dc has the QES 2.1.0 operating system which is optimized for fully flash storage arrays.

The ES1686dc supports virtualization from VMware, Microsoft, and Citrix, and SnapSync supports VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) to offer an enterprise remote backup and disaster recovery solution for virtual applications. QES 2.1.0 update adds support for iSER to optimize VMware performance, and for Cinder and Manila OpenStack® file sharing services, offering businesses a flexible, easy-to-use and low-cost storage solution for OpenStack environments.
