Qnap officially presents the nas zfs enterprise

QNAP expands its product range with the launch of its new ES2486dc 24-bay all-flash storage solution to its Enterprise ZFS NAS series. The ES2486dc is QNAP's first high-availability NAS with all-flash storage that features dual drivers with Intel Xeon D-2142IT processors to provide excellent I / O performance along with 10GbE connectivity.

Powered by the QES 2.1.1 flash-optimized operating system that uses ZFS and includes support for block-based online data deduplication and online compression, the ES2486dc provides a future- proof IT architecture with flash storage to serve critical file servers, virtualization servers and commercial cloud applications.

New release

With an active-active dual controller architecture, the ES2486dc ensures high availability with virtually zero downtime. Each controller provides four 10GbE SFP + LAN ports and eight RDIMM slots for up to 512 GB of memory. Battery-protected DRAM caching data protection helps reduce the risk of data loss. Two PCIe slots support 10GbE / 25GbE / 40GbE network cards to enhance virtualization and other high-bandwidth applications. Users can also install SAS expansion cards to connect multiple EJ1600 v2 expansion boxes to expand potential storage capacity to more than 1 PB.

Leveraging the optional QDA-SA3 6 Gbps SAS to SATA drive connector, the ES2486dc allows the use of a 6 Gbps SATA SSD drive in the 2.5-inch SAS drive bay, allowing SATA SSD drives to share SAS dual port benefits for a fault-tolerant business storage environment and helping organizations establish a high-performance, yet cost-effective all-flash storage system.

The ZFS Enterprise ES2486dc NAS is powered by the QES operating system, optimized for all-flash storage arrays. It performs efficient data reduction with online data deduplication and online data compression, beneficial in reducing I / O and SSD storage consumption and significantly extending SSD life. Other more advanced business features include automatic silent data corruption correction, virtually unlimited snapshot versions, SnapSync for instant remote backups, and Quality of Service to ensure consistent primary storage performance.

ES2486dc supports virtualization from VMware, Microsoft and Citrix; SnapSync supports VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) to offer enterprise-grade remote backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual applications. Support for iSER optimizes VMware performance, while support for OpenStack® Cinder and Manila file sharing services provides businesses with a flexible, easy-to-use and cost-effective storage solution for OpenStack environments.
