AMD Radeon RX Vega is closer than ever, the new top-of-the-range graphics card was shown at an AMD event in Budapest and confirms what is already known thanks to the Radeon Vega Frontier, the new AMD architecture will fight with the GeForce GTX 1080.

Radeon RX Vega fights with the GeForce GTX 1080

The Radeon RX Vega has been the protagonist of the AMD event in Budapest, the card has been compared to the GeForce GTX 1080 although it was not seen since both systems were fully closed. Both systems have been powered by a Ryzen 7 processor under the Battlefield 1 video game on two monitors, one with AMD FreeSync and the other with G-Sync. The systems have been covered so that users did not know which of the two GPUs the demo was running with.

The resolution of the test was 3440 x 1440 pixels, under these conditions the GeForce GTX 1080 should give more than 60 FPS in Ultra. It has been reported that users noticed that one of the two systems showed slight lag in one part of the test, which of the two could not be confirmed.

AMD reported that the price difference between the two systems is $ 300, it is assumed that a FreeSync monitor saves $ 200 or more than one with G-Sync, so we should expect the Radeon RX Vega about $ 100 below the GeForce GTX 1080.

A significant price difference but it will have to be seen how the energy consumption of these Radeon RX Vega finally looks, what we have seen so far in the Frontier does not look too good with TDPs between 300-350W and a consumption that reaches 440W under overclock. For now, the Frontier's performance samples seem to be confirmed and in terms of consumption, there should not be much difference.
