In the market we have a wide variety of PC chassis but we can always find a model that surprises us with an unconventional design, this is the case of the Raijintek Paean that offers us a concept more similar to a benchtable and an abundance of tempered glass so that we can see all the components of our computer in full operation.
Raijintek Paean technical characteristics
Unboxing and design
The Raijintek Paean is presented in a large cardboard box, on the front we see the brand's logo and an image of the chassis to give us an idea of its concept.
All the pieces come perfectly seated and protected by cork pieces to prevent them from moving during transport, the objective is that they reach the hands of the end user in the best possible conditions. We also see a great brochure with the instructions for its assembly, something that is very simple as we will see.
Raijintek Paean is a very unique PC chassis, it is a case in which the use of tempered glass predominates and is more like a benchtable than a PC chassis, in fact, as described by the manufacturer. This chassis is capable of housing an ATX / MICRO ATX / MINI ITX size motherboard and offers dimensions of 286mm × 587mm × 417mm, thanks to its unusual design you can orient it as you like so there is no sense in talking about height, width and depth this time.
With the Raijintek Paean we can mount a team with a maximum of three 3.5-inch hard drives or three 2.5-inch drives, we continue with the possibility of mounting graphics cards up to 310 mm and CPU coolers up to 140 mm high. Raijintek Paean is built with two 3.5mm tempered glass panels and one 4mm thick anodized aluminum panel.
With these characteristics we can configure a very high performance system, surely what limits us the most is the height of the heatsink supported since 140 mm may seem little, although in the market we find a great variety of low profile air heatsinks or better yet An AIO liquid cooling kit would suit this system perfectly. As for the radiator, it offers support for 120/140/240/280 / 360mm units so we can mount any AIO kit available on the market, one of the best the Raijintek Triton, of course we can choose a custom liquid cooling circuit for even more performance.
The first thing we have to do is mount the eight aluminum legs on the main aluminum panel, four of these legs are shorter and go next to the power supply while the other four are longer and go on the side of the motherboard. Once the legs are mounted we see that the aluminum panel is between them as if it were a sandwich.
The next step is to place the screws for mounting the motherboard, depending on the motherboard we will have to put more of them or less and in some positions or others. The process of placing the screws is very simple and they enter the aluminum panel with little effort. Next, we have to place the bracket of the expansion slots, this offers us a total of nine expansion slots. To join this piece we only need to make use of two screws that are tightened with the hands, easier than possible.
Raijintek provides us with a cage for hard drives that supports up to three 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch units, this cage will be hidden once the equipment is mounted so it will not be visible, its position will be on the back or front depending on how we orient the equipment once assembled. To assemble this cage we will use four hand screws. To mount the hard drives we will have to screw them first with some rubber pieces that will later be used to install them in the cage, a simple and elegant solution.
The last piece is the bracket of the power supply, it consists of two parts, four screws and four rubber protectors. Most of the parts are screwed to the power supply and then attached to the aluminum panel of the chassis with a few thumb screws. The secondary part is optional and adds support for large power supplies, it has three positions so that we can adjust it according to the size of our power unit.
Once all the parts assembled it is time to place the motherboard, we will have to pay attention to the heatsink to use, the most recommended in this case is to opt for a liquid cooling kit of 240/360 cm although we can also put a high heatsink performance such as the new AMD Wraith, a model with a measured height and that is perfect for the occasion. In case of opting for a low profile heatsink, the memories that we mount will also have to be low profile or it will be impossible to place them.
As a graphics card we have mounted the recently tested AMD Radeon RX550 ideal for e-sports users.
A simple assembly but it looks great.
Final words and conclusion about Raijintek Paean
The Raijintek Paean is one of the best tempered glass cases of the moment. A large, robust, strong box that allows us to install high-end material. In our case we have opted for air cooling but we could perfectly have fitted a liquid cooling with triple radiator and tempered tubes.
We recommend reading our guide to the best PC cases on the market
In our case we have chosen to mount one of the new AMD Ryzen 7 and an X370 motherboard signed by ASRock. Along with it an AMD Radeon RX 550 graphics card, but we can perfectly mount a GTX 1080 Ti or RX 580 graphics card, as long as the height does not exceed that of the slot, because otherwise it will not close through the tempered glass. Without forgetting that it allows us to mount a liquid cooling of 360 to 240 cm on its right side.
Currently we have it in online stores for a price of approximately 189 euros. Taking into account all the options that it offers us, we believe that it is a more than correct price. It has its big downside: it gets dirty easily and being made of blackened glass, any speck of dust is clearly visible.
