During the company's second quarter broadcast of the fiscal year, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said it was "crazy" to buy a new graphics card that lacks support for Ray Tracing.

Nvidia is convinced that Ray Tracing will become a new standard in video games

Textually Nvidia says the following; "At this point, it is an obvious conclusion that, if you are going to buy a new graphics card, it will last you two, three, four years, and not having Ray Tracing is crazy . "

Although Jensen's statement makes sense from a future guarantee perspective, it doesn't make sense when looking at Nvidia's current product line. In the past three months, Nvidia has released its GTX 1660 Ti, GTX 1660, and GTX 1650 graphics cards, all of which lack Ray Tracing support. Applying this logic, it is "crazy" to buy any of these three graphics cards from the green firm, as they do not have this technology.

With his statement, Jensen points to AMD's Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards, which currently lack support for hardware accelerated Ray Tracing. These graphics cards compete with the GeForce RTX series, which have a technological advantage in this regard.

Perhaps Nvidia's statements are somewhat exaggerated, since there are few games that take advantage of technology and, those that do, do not make a big difference in graphic quality. It is possible that in a few years we will see Ray Tracing technology in all its splendor, but at this moment it is still taking its first steps. What do you think?
