The Razer Blackwidow Lite Mercury Edition keyboard in white is one of the new peripherals launched within the Mercury line created by Razer. A TKL keyboard that, despite coming from a company focused on the gaming world and as we saw in previous versions with a different color or skin, stands out for its sober and simple style, its small size and the Razer Orange mechanical switches that are quite silent compared to others.

As usual, the Razer Blackwidow Lite Mercury Edition has two packages. The main and exterior displays only a representation of the keyboard with the lighting on and surrounded in turn by a background with light-colored waves. The name of the model appears exclusively on the sides of the box with an aluminum-colored background, while the rear is where some of its main characteristics are pointed out.

Once this cover is opened, we find the inner packaging, made of corrugated cardboard and which features the Razer logo in large. The keyboard is well inserted and has a plastic cover to prevent it from moving during transport. Together, we find inside:

Design

The design of the Razer Blackwidow Lite Mercury Edition is virtually the same in shape, style, and function as the original Razer Blackwidow Lite. The most significant change is the overall matt white color, both for the keys and for the backlight. This color is far from the usual black typical of the company itself or many gaming keyboards, and as such, white radiates elegance and harmony. Therefore, it is a keyboard that does not clash neither at home nor in the office, where in addition, its silence is an advantage.

While the overall color of the keyboard is white for the plastic parts, the plate on which the floating keys are supported is made of aluminum, hence it retains its characteristic silver color. This board has edges that protrude a bit from the keyboard and which are rounded at the corners, giving it a modern and sophisticated touch. Leaving the color aside, it should be noted that this Razer Blackwidow Lite Mercury Edition, as a TKL keyboard that is, has a really compact design, without a numeric keyboard. With what remains in a rather concise final dimensions of 360 x 133 x 36 mm with the legs collected. By extending the legs, you gain about 6 mm more height, although this still does not achieve a sufficient inclination and it would have been useful to include longer legs or a second pair of legs to have two measures.

Along with the absence of greater inclination, a wrist rest similar to that of other models of the brand is also missing to achieve a much more optimal ergonomics.

The weight is within the average in terms of compact keyboards and remains at about 660 grams, a light weight in case you want to transport it.

In general, the layout and screen printing of the keys is very good. As a negative point, the letter Ñ is missing on a keyboard that is sold in Spanish territory, but as they say, it is a lesser evil.

The Razer Blackwidow Lite Mercury Edition features a braided white nylon Type B microUSB cable with a length of 1.8 meters USB 2.0 that connects separately. The microUSB port is located on the upper right edge. Once connected, the keyboard automatically lights up.

The white backlighting is individual to each key and is the only color available on this keyboard, except for the Caps key (Caps Lock) that lights up green when pressed and is on.

It is possible, however, to change the intensity of the lighting, both from the Razer Synapse 3.4 application and from the keyboard itself when pressing the Fn key together with the F11 or F12 keys.

Switches

As if that were not enough, the Razer Blackwidow Lite Mercury Edition includes very interesting features already seen on various keyboards of the company such as: the 10-key anti-ghosting, to be able to press and recognize up to 10 keys at the same time; a polling rate of 1000 hz, whereby the keystroke is polled 1000 times per second; or the Hypershift function, which allows each key to have other functions or to use macros on the fly while that key is pressed.

With the Lighting tab, we can adjust the brightness of the keyboard lighting, deactivate it, configure when it turns off when not in use and if we want the lighting to be static or in breathing mode. We reached the end of the analysis with some very good feelings, the same ones that the previous Razer Blackwidow Lite left us. The Razer Orange switches are still a great success for those who want a silent but versatile keyboard to carry out different tasks, such as playing or typing. The speed of its activation or the least necessary force, will make that in long sessions we do not have the fingers so tired.

In the end, the biggest novelty lies in the finishes and color of this Mercury version. We can simply say that the finish is exquisite, both for the finish of the aluminum plate and the matt white color of the set, which gives it another change of air to which we are already accustomed, fits almost everything and can be used both for leisure as for work.

There are aspects that we would have liked to see improved, such as the inclusion of the Ñ, a greater height of inclination or some plate to rest the wrists. Some of these improvements and the inclusion of more colors in the lighting can be achieved in models with higher performance.
