Razer BlackWidow Lite StormTrooper is the next peripheral that we are going to analyze from the series that commemorates the Star Wars saga. It's basically the usual Blackwidow Lite, a TKL keyboard with orange Razer mechanical switches, and it also includes the O-rings to make it quieter. The difference is only in the skin of the main key panel, in black and white, making it the same great keyboard, with an exclusive Star Wars facelift.

And what also changes in this Razer BlackWidow Lite StormTrooper is precisely the presentation. Now we have an outer box with a great keyboard photograph with that impressive skin and activated lighting, along with the Disney, Star Wars and Razer logo.

In the back we are offered another photo with the main novelties of the Blackwidow keyboard along with the basic specifications in several languages. But the product is in turn inside another neutral rigid cardboard box in which we will find the following elements:

We didn't find anything extra compared to the traditional Razer keyboard, so it's actually just the same bundle.

Switches and features

Let's start the analysis by showing the type of switches this Razer BlackWidow Lite StormTrooper mounts. And in this case the choice of the Razer Orange switch has been maintained. It is a silent, tactile feedback switch that is very versatile for use in virtually all fields.

The characteristics of these switches consist of an actuation force of 45 grams, an actuation point of 1.9 mm and a total travel distance of 4.0 mm. In addition, they are prepared to withstand 80 million pulsations, of course depending on the treatment we give you, we will increase or decrease that half-life.

In addition to these features, the keyboard offers a polling rate of 1000 Hz through its USB 2.0 interface, hypershift function to improve response and a 10-key antighosting configuration . Nor could the white LED lighting system be missing in each of these keys, which will be configurable in intensity, but not in color.

In addition, we have available a bag of rubber gaskets that will serve to place them on the switch and thus reduce the sound of the keys even more. And for ease of use, a quick-release kit is provided for interior keyboards.

These are very quiet keys already standard, but the use of these boards reduces vibration and bottom knock and recoil, so its use is really noticeable. For writers and others who use the keyboard in offices, they are very useful.

The connectivity offered is through a USB 2.0 port. For this, there is a removable USB - MiniUSB cable of 1.8 meters and with a textile braid based on the colors of the skin, that is, black and white.

Design

Razer BlackWidow Lite StormTrooper is a variant designed in commemoration of the Star Wars saga, in which Razer has designed a new print on the board that houses all the keys and switches. This skin consists of a gradient in lines from black to glossy white with the image of a soldier of the imperial troops pointing his weapon.

The truth is that only with this detail it seems that we are facing a totally new product, although it is not. What we say is that it would not be a bad idea for Razer to have personalization vinyls for their keyboards, it would be easy for the user to disassemble the keys and place the image that they like the most.

In any case, we are facing a keyboard in TKL format, you know, without a numeric keyboard and that maintains the orange switches of the brand. It is for this reason that it becomes very versatile both for writing and for games and day-to-day use. And be careful because here comes another of the substantial differences in terms of the normal version, and that is that this Razer BlackWidow Lite StormTrooper is entirely made of plastic. Both the front and inner plates are made of plastic, thus losing the highest quality aluminum finishes.

The measurements it offers us are exactly the same, 361 mm long, 133 mm deep and 36 mm high without the legs extended. The weight practically remains the same with just over 500 grams. As well as the profile of its keys, somewhat less thick than normal.

And in this case of course, we have no palm rest for this keyboard. True, it is the same model, but we think that, being an optimal keyboard for everyday use, the brand could have designed a basic wrist rest. Additionally, this would help reinforce the final look of the keyboard, with an extension of the Star Wars skin beyond the keyboard itself. Also, we don't have a variant in Spanish with the "Ñ" key and the Enter key is still not entirely comfortable for me.

A positive aspect of Razer BlackWidow Lite StormTrooper is that it maintains the curvature in the corners and good accessibility to the keys as it is a very compact keyboard. We have also not lost the double functionality of the F keys for multimedia options, although thanks to Synapse 3 we will be able to customize absolutely all the functions of the keys to our liking.

Regarding the legs, we have two of them in the front area that allows us to raise the profile of the keyboard to a total of 42 mm on the edge of the highest key. Personally I find it more comfortable with the legs folded, since having no palm rests I do not gain anything by tilting it. For tastes, colors, that always.

It also includes four wide rubber feet in the support area to absorb vibrations and allow the keyboard to remain static wherever we place it.

Making the USB connection to the PC we will directly obtain the white LED lighting on all the keys individually. Let's remember once again that we will not be able to customize its color, we will only be able to vary its intensity, just like the basic Blackwidow Lite.

In the F11 and F12 keys we will have the option to directly modify this lighting intensity, after pressing the Fn key simultaneously. The truth is that the end result is very striking, and thanks to a skin of the same white color, the lighting is enhanced even more. Truly a worthy creation for this exclusive StormTrooper range.

Synapse 3 software

We now turn to see the configuration and customization options of Razer BlackWidow Lite StormTrooper through the brand's software, the Razer Synapse 3. Connecting and pairing will be as easy as connecting the keyboard to the PC and waiting for Synapse to update with the new driver.

We can now manage the keyboard from the program. Of course, the Razer Chroma module will not appear to us, since the lighting is not RGB. On the contrary, we can customize its intensity from the main lighting section. We can also configure the possibility that the lighting turns off after a certain time, just as it is possible to activate the breathing mode as animation, which is the most basic of all.

Something that we can do is customize the function of each of the keys, something very interesting and that gives this team much more breadth. We can configure multimedia access, program execution, mouse functions, and also macros quickly. Let's remember the possibility of activating the Hypershift function in case we are going to play.

Final words and conclusion about Razer BlackWidow Lite StormTrooper

As for sensations, this Razer BlackWidow Lite StormTrooper offers us exactly the same as the plain Lite version, obviously it is the same keyboard and the same switches. They are light pulsations and quite pleasant at the time of writing and above all silent, it will not bother anyone, and the fact of bringing the o-rings will improve the experience even more.

Then we have the design, which is also the same in general terms, although we have obvious differences. The first is the inclusion of an exclusive Star Wars skin, which is why this keyboard has been designed, very striking, original and certainly elegant. The second difference is that the aluminum plate is lost to the benefit of a hard plastic one, a decrease in build quality, we must say. The skin could also be printed on the aluminum.

We have already seen that it is a keyboard with an American configuration and therefore it lacks the “Ñ” character represented. In any case, we just have to get used to it should be there, because with the Spanish distribution in Windows we will solve the lack. Another missing element is the palm rest, perhaps we are heavy, but in this specific model, an extension of a palm rest would look great, for example, with the skin of the StormTrooper mat that we will see later.

Software management as always is very good, although limited in this model of lower benefits than the Huntsman for example.
