Razer Kraken Pro V2 Technical Features

Unboxing and design

Razer always makes a gala presentation on its products and it was not going to be an exception with the Razer Kraken Pro V2, a cardboard box with the brand's corporate colors is responsible for hiding the well-fitted helmets inside so that it does not they move during transport and reach the end user in perfect condition. In this case the box has a very clean design with several photos of the helmets and their main characteristics. Next to the helmets we find a user guide and a greeting card.

The first thing that strikes us about the Razer Kraken Pro V2 is its 3.5mm mini jack connection that will give us great compatibility to be able to use them with all kinds of devices, not just our PC. We're too used to gaming headsets coming with a USB interface and add-ons like 7.1 surround sound, this is absent in these Razer Kraken Pro V2s that opt for stereo sound. Many users will think that the latter is a negative thing, but it is not the case at all, a good stereo sound can be much better than virtual 7.1 and the 3.5 mm jack connection allows us to take advantage of the sound system of our motherboard base, which on many occasions is far above that of the USB helmets.

Razer has opted for drivers of the best quality, made of neodymium and with a size of 50 mm that makes us presage a very successful and present bass. These drivers have a frequency response of 12 Hz - 28 kHz, an impedance of 32 Ω at 1 kHz and a sensitivity of 118 dB. The pads that accompany the drivers are also excellent, their design is circumaural with an internal dome size of 56 mm that helps boost the bass, they are very soft pads to offer great comfort during long sessions of use, let's not forget that gamers are a very demanding audience that spends many hours on their PC.

The design of the headphones is quite characteristic of Razer, we have a perforated black metal ring and in the center we find the logo of the brand, it is a simple design that is present in all the brand's helmets but it looks quite good in general.

A retractable design microphone is hidden in the left earpiece so that we can always have it on hand without getting in the way, this is my favorite design because it remains very discreet and there is no risk of loss of the detachable microphones.

We arrived at the union of the headphones with the headband, this has a small articulation to allow a certain angle and improve comfort of use, a height adjustment system has also been installed so that each user can adapt the Razer Kraken Pro V2 to perfection at its head.

We arrived at the headband which is padded inside, so that it rests gently on the user's head and does not bother in long sessions of use, on the outside the brand logo is screen printed. It is a single- bridge headband design that punctures the headphones by a single point, the closing pressure that is achieved next to the pads is quite ideal to achieve good isolation without being annoying.

Finally we see the 3.5 mm mini jack connector that is at the end of the 1.3 meter long braided cable, it is a three-way connector that serves both stereo and micro sound. Razer supplies us with a second modular cable that is 2 meters long and that separates the speakers and mic into two 3.5mm connectors.

Final words and conclusion about Razer Kraken Pro V2

The Razer Kraken Pro V2 are stereo gaming helmets that do not have an integrated sound card or management software, so all the quality they can offer will depend on the sound card that we have on our PC. Nowadays the systems integrated in the motherboards are usually quite good and with these helmets we will be able to take full advantage of them. The 50mm drivers already made us expect a very good sound and this has been the case, especially in the bass, which are always the ones that tend to slack off with smaller speakers. The overall sound is very balanced without the bass getting to deplete the treble and mids. The volume they offer is very high without becoming excessively saturated, only a little when we get closer to the maximum.

The ergonomics of these Razer Kraken Pro V2 is also quite good making it easy and pleasant for several hours with them on your head, logically with very long sessions we always end up noticing that we are wearing them and more now that summer has arrived with everything that this entails. Its height adjustment system helps them to be quite comfortable helmets in general, although this is usually the case in all helmets on the market.

We recommend you read the best helmets on the market

We bequeath to the microphone and this is the section where these Razer Kraken Pro V2 loose the most, the truth is that being some Razer helmets and with a fairly high price I expected a better quality than that offered, they will serve us perfectly to communicate with our playmates But the truth is that we have tried cheaper helmets with much better mics.

The green Razer Kraken Pro V2 are for sale for an approximate price of 95 euros, a rather high figure when the black version is for 79 euros.
