Razer Lancehead is the most advanced mouse of the Californian firm and without a doubt one of the most advanced on the market with a 5G laser sensor, which has proven to be one of the best on the market and has a tracking capacity of 210 inches per second (IPS), 50G acceleration and ergonomic design to hold you for long sessions without fatigue. Do not miss our analysis is Spanish.

We thank Razer for trusting the product for their review:

Razer Lanchehead technical features

Unboxing and design

Razer Lancehead opts for a minimalist and gala presentation as usual in the brand's mice, the device is offered in a small box that combines the brand's corporate colors. On the front stand out its most important features such as the Chroma lighting system and its advanced 16, 000 DPI optical sensor with the best precision. While the back we have a breakdown of all the features in several languages including Spanish.

Once we open the box we find the following bundle:

  • Razer Lancehead USB Charging Cable USB Nano-Receiver Razer Greeting Cards

Unfortunately it seems that someone has lost the USB receiver so we can not test this mouse wirelessly, is what happens when they send us an unsealed product that has passed through the hands of someone not very responsible?

Razer Lanchehead Tournament Edition is a mouse made by and for gamers, a few months ago we analyzed the wired version of this mouse that shares most of the characteristics although the sensor used in both is very different. In this case a 5G laser sensor with a resolution of 16, 000 DPI has been mounted together with a sampling rate of 210 IPS and an acceleration of 50G.

So Razer has again made a mistake that we already saw with the Razer Mamba, we know that a laser sensor is more energy efficient than an optical one, so the battery life will be longer. However, laser sensors are clearly less precise than optical sensors, so we consider that a mouse of the caliber of this Lancehead should mount optical technology.

The mouse is built in very good quality black plastic, and has dimensions of 117 mm x 71 mm x 38 mm and weighs only 111 grams without the cable, it is a light mouse that will give us great agility on the move more rapid. On the sides it has rubber panels to improve the grip on the user's hands and prevent it from being shot when a sudden movement is made in the middle of a game. The entire body of the mouse has a design that feels great in the hand and makes it very comfortable to use.

Razer Lancehead is based on a symmetrical design, this makes it quite comfortable for left-handed users. For this, two additional buttons have been placed on each of the sides, these buttons have a hard touch and seem to be of very good quality.

The two main buttons of this Razer Lancehead have mechanisms developed jointly by Razer and OMRON, they are switches of enormous quality and a lifespan of 50 million clicks making it a mouse that is made to last for many years. The design of the buttons is slightly curved to improve the comfort of our fingers on them.

Next to the main buttons we have the wheel finished in rubber and two programmable buttons that are configured by default to change the DPI mode.

On the back we find the logo of the brand that is part of the lighting system next to the wheel and two small light strips that are placed on each side.

At the bottom of the Razer Lancehead we find several elements such as an on-off switch, the laser sensor and a cover inside which should be the USB receiver that someone has lost?

Razer Synapse 3.0 Software

An important novelty in this Razer Lanchehead is that it includes internal memory thinking of the new Synapse 3.0 software, until now Razer mice did not have internal memory so all the configuration was saved in the system and the cloud. From now on, it is committed to a hybrid technology that keeps data in the cloud but also stores it in the peripheral so that it is always ready.

The first thing is to download the software from the official Razer website and install it on our computer. For now Razer Synapse 3.0 is still in beta but works perfectly with this Lancehead. The mouse can work perfectly without the application but it is highly recommended that we install it to be able to take advantage of its full potential.

Once we download the installer and proceed to install the program, it will automatically download the latest versions of the mouse firmware and all the elements of the program itself so that everything runs smoothly.

Once we open Razer Synapse 3.0 we see that this application has been completely renewed and looks totally different. First we see the section to configure the 10 programmable functions.

The second section corresponds to the sensor configuration of this Razer Lancehead. As we can see we can adjust the sensitivity of the X and Y axes independently and totally free from 100 DPI to 16000 DPI. A high DPI value allows us to make a great tour with a very small movement of the mouse so it will be especially suitable for multi-monitor configurations. In contrast, low DPI values will be ideal in games where high precision of movement is required.

We can also configure the ultra-polling in 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz and 1000 Hz in addition to the acceleration of the laser sensor.

We are dealing with a product with Chroma lighting, so this section is one of the most extensive within the Razer Synapse application. We are offered the possibility of configuring the lighting in color, intensity and light effects to better adapt it to our tastes.

  • Wave: Swap the color scale and make a customizable wave effect in two directions. Spectrum Cycle: Cycles of all colors. Breathing: It allows us to choose 1 or 2 colors and they alternate for several seconds. Chroma Experience: Make a color combination starting from the equator of the mouse. Static: A single fixed color. Custom themes.

We continue with the calibration of the surface and the management of the energy saving options.

Finally we can create various profiles and even associate them with games and applications so that they load automatically when they are opened.

Final words and conclusion about Razer Lanchehead

Unfortunately we have been very limited when trying this Razer Lancehead since we have not had the USB receiver as we have said before. Analyzing a wireless mouse without being able to use it wirelessly is not the best way to do things but it is what it is. Therefore we have not been able to test neither the battery life, the autonomy nor possible inconveniences of latency when using it without cable. Hopefully Razer has done his homework well in these respects.

The design of this Razer Lancehead is exquisite and adapts quite well to all types of grip, be it the palm, the claw or the fingertips. The mouse is very comfortable and its low weight makes it very fast to slide on the desk or the mat. Its buttons are all quite silent and of very good quality, not for nothing. The wheel also has a very pleasant operation with a smooth displacement.

We have already commented that a laser sensor is not the best option for a high-end gamer mouse, indeed it is less accurate than the optical mounted in the Razer Lancehead Tournament version, nothing less than a PWM 3360 that is considered the best sensor of today. It is not a bad sensor but it is not the best and we are talking about a very expensive mouse that aspires to be the best on the market.

We recommend reading the best mice on the market

Razer Lanchehead is already on sale for an approximate price of 150 euros, a very high figure but according to the usual in the Californian firm.
