The manufacturer has chosen a gala presentation for the Razer Panthera, since the arcade stick comes in not one, but two high-quality boxes. The first has the typical Razer design, which we have already seen on countless occasions. The second box is neutral in color, and inside the product comes, very well accommodated by two pieces of foam on the sides so that it does not move during transport. Accompanying the product is the Razer greeting card and documentation.

The Razer Panthera arcade stick comes to remind us of the golden years of arcade machines, when we spent the whole afternoon playing with the money we had accumulated throughout the week, or at least that was the intention… after many years without being able to enjoy From the mythical machines, it is time to see if Razer manages to recreate the experience that we all keep in our minds.

The Razer Panthera looks like a simple box with a few buttons and a joystick. The standard model has the Razer logo taped to the front in a PlayStation-inspired blue, eight buttons labeled with the PS4 controls, a joystick with a ball, and a section for a number of less common controls, such as the touchpad, R3, L3, and some special toggles for the combat stick only. The Start and Select buttons are hidden on the right side of the chassis so they do not interfere with the action.

At the back we see the connector for the cable, with a proprietary format that consists of thick contact pins.

There is also a slot to store the braided USB cable, the included screwdriver, and the additional joystick head to suit all users. Design aside, the real focus on Razer Panthera is gaming performance, for this the Sanwa hardware does an excellent job. The buttons have a very smooth and pleasant operation to the touch, recalling the true experience of an arcade. The joystick is at the same level, with a quality that feels tremendous from the first moment. The larger, more spaced buttons dramatically change the experience versus playing with a conventional controller. With them it is possible to make a quick succession of touches with separated fingers to launch a combo, something that would be much more complicated on a controller and using only the thumb.

The Sanwa buttons have a small learning curve due to their great sensitivity, because with the slightest support we make of a finger on them, they will activate immediately. This has clear response implications in fighting games, with great reaction speed, although in return we will have to learn not to touch a button when we shouldn't.

Razer Panthera is a product that has been designed for the Sony Playstation 3 and 4, although we have been curious to see if it works on PC. The hardware is recognized, but it does not work immediately. To make it work we can resort to installing the Razer Xinput drivers, after that, Windows and Steam will consider Panthera to be an Xbox 360 controller. This will be perfectly functional, although when a tutorial says "Press X", it can be difficult to remember to press "square".

The final conclusion is that yes… this Razer Panthera remembers and remembers those afternoons with friends in the recreations of my town, without a doubt, it offers the best experience we can have in this regard. This is not tears, it is that something has gotten into my eye: p
