The ASUS GTX660 Ti DirectCU II TOP is a flagship model and like in its entire series. It presents its robust and striking box format. With three scratches in the upper right corner.

In the back all its news and features.

The bundle includes:

  • Asus GTX660 Ti DirectCU II TOP graphics card.Instruction manual. DVI-SUB connector and 6-pin PCIE molex thief.

The card tends to sport lines and excellent dissipation. Aesthetically it is nailed to the GTX670.

Rear.

The plate includes on the back 4 of the 9 SAPCAP that it includes.

Matte black helps this beauty look better in front of the camera (earn more in person).

Both fans operate at 3500 RPM but are controlled by a self regulating PWM connection.

We have two DVI connections, one HDMI and one Displayport.

The board includes two PCI-E connections.

It is time to take apart this GPU. As simple as removing the 4 rear screws and it comes straight out.

The heatsink does not cool the memories. A weak point when it comes to overclocking, although the graphics are already well uploaded from the factory. As we see we have 3 large 8mm heatpipes.

For excellent cooling the components are very important. The best combination is a copper base that is in direct contact with the chip, the heat it gives off is transferred to the copper fins, which will pass to an aluminum panel. To extract heat, one or more fans will be used. In DIrect CU II do we have two?

And here the black PCB.

Indeed we have the GK104 chip in this fantastic 192-bit GTX660Ti.

The memories are the Hynix H5GQ2H24AFR are designed to work up to 6000mhz effective and 1500mhz nominal. All together make a total of 2GB GDDR5

And this model comes super well equipped. Because it also includes the phases "Super Alloy Power". These are cooler power phases, without electrical noise, 250% longer durability and special for overclocking. Can we ask for more? ?

Asus integrates its DIGI + regulator, which is in charge of making the electrical system more stable and secure than the reference model.

To evaluate the performance of the graphics card we have used the following applications:

  • 3DMark11.3DMark Vantage.The Planet 2.Resident Evil 5.Heaven benchmark 2.1

All our tests have been carried out with a resolution of 1920px x 1080px.

What are we looking for in the tests?

First the best possible image quality. The most important value for us is the average FPS (Frames per second), the higher the number of FPS, the more fluid the game will be. To differentiate the quality a little, I leave you a table to assess the quality in FPS:

FRAMES BY SECONDS

Frames for Seconds. (FPS)

Gameplay

Less than 30 FPS Limited
30 - 40 FPS Playable
40 - 60 FPS Good
Greater than 60 FPS Fairly Good or Excellent

Let's not fool ourselves; there are games that can have an average of 100 FPS. It may be because the game is quite old, does not require excessive graphic resources or that the graphics is the most powerful on the market, or we have thousands of euros GPU systems. But the reality is different, and games like Crysis 2 and Metro 2033 are very demanding and do not usually give high scores.

The ASUS GTX660 Ti DirectCU II TOP comes standard overclocked with 1059 Mhz CLOCK / 1502 Mhz Memory GPU and a 1137 Mhz Boost. This will offer us 7% more performance than other graphics cards on the market.

WE RECOMMEND YOUUS presents GeForce® GTX 660 Ti DirectCU II TOP / OC Borderlands® 2 Edition graphics

Now we want to give it one more turn and we have stabilized it at: + 140mhz GPU BLOCK OFFSET / + 300MHZ Memory and 114% Power Target. We expected a better result, but we can still classify it as remarkable: P8897 PTS. The processor we used was an Intel i7 3770k at 4500 mhz with an Asus Maximus IV Extreme.

Capture of the moment:

In the temperature / consumption section we have been pleasantly surprised with its consumption in stock-idle.

* To check temperatures in full (The Furmark software at 1920 × 1200 pts has been used for 2 hours).

The ASUS DirectCU II series has earned a respected name by the world's best reviewers over the past two years. Its excellent cooling system and custom PCB are its two strengths. What sets it apart from the rest?

  • Cooler, longer lasting and more stable Super Alloy Power feeding phases. Hynix H5GQ2H24AFR memories at 1502 mhz with a total of 2048MB / 2GB GDDR5 . DIGI + regulator , which is in charge of making the electrical system more stable and secure than the reference model. Overclocked up to 1059 Mhz in GPU CLOCK / 1502 Mhz Memory and a Boost of 1137 Mhz. In other words, 7% more powerful than the reference model .

In our test bench we have seen how this fantastic GPU performs on an i7 3770k: 3DMARKVantage: P28894, 3DMARK11: P8504 and with games like Battelfield it performs very well with 55 FPS on average.

Refrigeration is the most interesting point of the card. With three 8mm thick aluminum arms and two very quiet 3500RPM PWM fans, they leave the graphic at 36ºC in idle and 64ºC at maximum power. The only "but" is that it leaves the memories without dissipation, this limits us a little more to perform extreme overclock. Although we repeat, it already comes with excellent overclocking.

ASUS has done a great job with the new GTX660 Ti DirectCU II TOP in component choice, PCB customization, cooling, and stabilized overclocking. If you are looking for a graphics to play the latest games with a high filter level, the GTX660 Ti is your choice. Although I should take into account the GTX670 if I go at a similar price, for the plus of performance.

The price that will go through stores will be from 300 to 320 €.
