Review: glacialtech siberia

These days we have checked the Glacialtech Siberia cooling system. It is a nickel-plated aluminum and copper heatsink. It works vertically with two 140mm and 92mm fans.

The Taiwanese manufacturer has a long and recognized international history, although it is not well known in Spain. Glacialtech is among the world's leading manufacturers of cooling systems, power supplies, solar panels, and light bulbs.

We can see among its most outstanding characteristics the quality of its components. We are surprised by its configuration of two fans of different sizes, this detail produces a slight loss of performance and more noise due to the 92mm fan.

In the case of AMD it is necessary to keep the Blacktape of our board, otherwise its installation will be impossible.

The size of the heatsink is quite important, although it fits perfectly in a quality HTPC box like the Silverstone Grandia 05.

To test the actual performance of the heatsink we are going to stress the AMD CPU with the full memory Linx floating point calculation program. This program is used to detect failures when the processor works 100% for long hours.

How are we going to measure the processor temperature?

We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For this test on AMD processors we will use the “Core Temp” application in its version: 0.99.8. It is not the most reliable test, but it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The test bench will be around 29º ambient temperature (summer).

We can appreciate a very great performance at the processor at 3800mhz. Its maximum temperature has been 58ºC and in stock at 51ºC. With more than 35 passes with full memory.

Glacialtech has left us with a great taste in the mouth with its SIberia heatsink. Its excellent performance, its beautiful aesthetics and low price (around € 35) are its greatest strengths. We must not forget that its 14 cm fan has a sublime aesthetic for modding lovers. We are in front of a great option for computers for the living room. We have also verified that it fits perfectly in the Silverstone Grandia 05 box, but we will lose the 5 ½ bay.

The biggest negative point is in its different size fans. Both fans are attached to the same PWM cable. In the case of changing any of the fans, we are obliged to change both, The heatsink mounting system is somewhat laborious, because it requires us to use many screws and on some boards it can be somewhat complicated. Because of the limited space left by the manufacturers of motherboards.
