At the end of September, Prolimatech launched its first mid-range heatsink: Panther. with compact dimensions and incorporating a 120 mm fan as standard.

Supported platforms

Intel Socket LGA 1156/1155, AMD Socket AM2 / 2 + / 3/3 +

Warranty Forever.

The Panther is protected in a robust, black cardboard box. In addition to showing the face of a panther.

The heatsink and its accessories are perfectly protected.

The box includes:

  • Heatsink Panther. 120 Prolimatech fan with red LEDs. Screws and clips. Intel and AMD anchors. Thermal paste tube.

The heatsink is constructed of a high quality nickel plating. This translates into better visual appeal. Also, the crossed fins increase the robustness of the Panther.

The Phanter has a fantastic aesthetic, it reminds us of its older brother "Armageddon".

The base is nickel-plated, giving greater adhesion to the thermal paste and heatsink.

Finally it comes equipped with 4 6mm heatpipes. Its base is compatible with socket 1155, 1156, AM2, AM2 + and AM3

Includes accessories and back plates for Intel and AMD boards. In addition to quality thermal paste and a fantastic sticker.

Its installation is very simple on both sockets. We have made the example of the Intel 1155. First we install the sheet behind the motherboard.

Next we install the Intel extension to the heatsink base.

We apply thermal paste and install the screws.

Next, we install the 120mm fan with the attached anchors. Being that way:

We have tested its compatibility with high profile memories. Concerning the Corsair Vengeance CL9, and as we can see we have no problem using all the sockets.

To test the actual performance of the heatsink we are going to stress the CPU with full memory floating point calculation (Linx) and prime number (Prime95) programs. Both programs are well known in the overclocking sector and serve to detect failures when the processor works 100% for long hours.

How are we going to measure the processor temperature?

We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For this test on Intel processors we will use the “Core Temp” application in its version: 0.99.8. It is not the most reliable test, but it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The test bench will be around 20ºC ambient temperature.

Here the results obtained:

The Prolimatech is a robust heatsink that wastes quality in its construction. It is compatible with all mid / high-end sockets on the market (Except LGA 2011).

In our test bench it has more than matched the size. We have used the profile of the bios: i7 2600k at 4200 mhz and 1.34 v and it has responded very well. 61ºC with Prime95 and 36.5ºC in Idle. For the most classic the processor in stock: 29ºC in idle and 52ºC in Full.

Among its novelties we find the incorporation of a Prolimatech PWM 120mm fan. For my taste it is very noisy although its performance is good. If we change the fan we will improve in loudness:).

We can find the Prolimatech Panther for € 39.90. A quite tempting price considering the benefits and performance it offers us.
