Prolimatech, prestigious brand of heatsinks and fans wants to conquer the mid-range of heatsinks with the Prolimatech Lynx. Let's see how it behaves in our test bench.

Weight

400 grams (heatsink only)

Fans included

1 fan x 120 x 120 x 25

Supported platforms

Intel Socket LGA 1156/1155, AMD Socket AM2 / 2 + / 3/3 +

The box is not as attractive in design as its older brothers. The heatsink is drawn in a simple cardboard box.

On the left side we have all the characteristics and measures of the heatsink.

The heatsink is 159.5mm high and 30mm deep, and is manufactured

The Prolimatech Lynx weighs 354 grams (heatsink only). A perfect weight to get great performance from our CPU.

As we can see it has a large number of aluminum fins.

Both the base and heatpipes are nickel plated for high quality.

The heatsink is accompanied by a 120mm PWM fan that can work at speeds of 800-1600 RPM.

The package includes compatibility with Intel and AMD. In addition to including the instruction manual and the thermal paste.

We insert the back plate behind the base plate.

We install the screws for the chosen socket (Intel in this case).

We apply thermal paste and insert the fastening screws.

This is the result obtained once installed with your fan.

We leave you two videos: unboxing and one measuring the dBA of your Prolimatech PWM fan.

To test the real performance of the heatsink we are going to stress the CPU with a prime number (Prime95). It is well known in the overclocking sector and is used to detect failures when the processor works 100% for long hours.

How are we going to measure the processor temperature?

We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For this test on Intel processors we will use the “Core Temp” application in its version: 0.99.8. It is not the most reliable test, but it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The test bench will be around 20ºC ambient temperature.

Here the results obtained:

Prolimatech gives us a lesson on how to get excellent performance from our processor with its Prolimatech Lynx 120mm heatsink. We have verified in our test bench that its performance with a strong OC (4600mhz) on the Intel i7 2600k has been very good: 38º Idle and Full 66ºC.

Among its strengths we find maximum compatibility with Intel and AMD sockets. Thus we will not have the need to acquire any additional kit if we migrate to a new platform.

We would also like to highlight the incorporation of a 120mm fan, which although not one of the best on the market, allows us to get good performance from the processor. However, we can install a second fan to lower 3-4ºC with high OC.

The recommended price of the Prolimatech Lynx ranges from € 30 making it a safe and quality purchase.
