Samsung galaxy s7 and s7 edge: technical characteristics, availability and price

Finally, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones have been officially announced taking advantage of the MWC in Barcelona and have confirmed the features that had been leaking in recent weeks.

Features Samsung Galaxy S7

The Samsung Galaxy S7 presents a design almost identical to that of its predecessor with dimensions of 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9 mm with a weight of 152 grams, if we look at its Edge variant we come across 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7 mm with 157 grams of weight. A novelty in the unibody design of this smartphone is that it allows you to expand its storage with the use of microSD memory cards, something that its predecessor does not allow.

Inside we find two variants, one of them with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor consisting of four Kryo cores and the Adreno 530 GPU and on the other hand we will have a version with Exynos 8890 processor with four Mongoose cores, four Cortex cores- A53 and the Mali-T880 MP12 GPU.

Along with the processor we find 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and models with storage of 32 GB and 64 GB expandable by up to 200 additional GB. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Plus feature 3, 000 mAh and 3, 600 mAh non-removable batteries respectively with fast charge technology with the attached cable and wireless charging with a separate accessory. Everything at the service of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system with Samsung TouchWiz customization.

We go to the screen and see a Super AMOLED panel with the same resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and sizes of 5.1 inches for the Galaxy S7 and 5.5 inches for the Galaxy S7 Edge. AMOLED technology provides much more intense blacks at the same time as more intense colors and lower energy consumption. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 4 to keep it looking like new for a long time.

In the optics section, we find a 12-megapixel rear camera with f / 1.7 aperture to capture more light in dark situations and an optical image stabilizer to improve the sharpness of the photos taken. On the front is a 5-megapixel sensor with the same f / 1.7 aperture. Regarding video recording, they are capable of recording at a maximum of 2160p (4K) and 30 fps on their rear camera, while the front camera can record at 1080p resolution.

In the connectivity section we see that the Samsung Galaxy S7 does not have USB Type-C so it is satisfied with a microUSB 2.0 to which the WiFi 802.11ac, 4G LTE, GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC technologies are added.

Availability and price

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will hit the market on March 11 with starting prices of 699 euros (available on Amazon) and 799 euros respectively. Both include Samsung VR glasses.
